The "Dreamair" is loaded similar to an Arbalete powered by rubber bands. The spear is placed on the guide track and pressed into the sear box in order to latch on the trigger mechanism. Then the wishbone is pulled back, however with only cable to grab onto as there are no band ferrules, a type of hook is used, except in this case the hook has a pulley. Image is taken from a larger picture of the gun, in the background the circular object is the drum of the reel. Of course the version of the gun with 2 axles requires this cocking action to be performed twice, unless you intend to shoot at less than half power with only one wishbone cocked as then the piston has only advanced by half of its full length stroke.

Interesting! Excess rope is wrapped on the cylindrical grip handle while simultaneously pulling?

I have not seen it used, but that seems to be the logic behind it as you will have noticed some turns of line already around the cylindrical grip handle with the tapered ends. The other end of the line may be fixed to the gun, so in a sense you reel the line in on the grip handle by revolving it. Just how easy that would be I don't know as it would be hard to stop the handle unwinding in your hands. Some cable rollergun loaders are like workers hessian bag slinging hooks, just a metal hook and a T handle. When I think about it Mordem (Italy) used to make a loading bar for a band gun that hooked onto the metal wishbones on either side of the curved wire U or V form, I wonder if they still make them.

I checked and the "Mordem" web site http://www.mordem.it/ has now disappeared. http://www.apneateam.info/ArchivioAI/Idoliepersonaggifamosi/DEMETRIOMORABITO/tabid/951/Default.aspx

so it is clear and will be easy to work!

I do not see an address
I guess it looks like?

The "Mordem" loading bar was like a spoke-shaving tool for crafting wooden spokes on cart wheels. You seized it with both hands on either side of the section that hooked on the wishbone in two places. I will draw a sketch relying on my memory of it and hope that I have done it correctly as it must be nearly a decade since I last saw it.

Here is the sketch.

If there is a monument to the great spearfishing pioneers and innovators of equipment for submarine hunting activities then Demetrio Morabito's name must surely be on it.

"mordem loading bar"

in Russian - "ZARYAZHALKA"

long spear gun can not be charged!

a long spear gun must have a stopper

My sketch of "Mordem" loading bar may be incomplete as just looking through my notes on the "Mordem" cartridge gun gun (the loading bar is not mentioned as it was for band gun use) that was actually 15 years ago! My memory is good, but not that good to recall every detail of something I looked at for about 20 seconds at the time. I then considered such a device an unnecessary encumbrance to carry on a dive, as I had some "real world" experience with my own double-handed, pneumatic loading bar made from aluminium alloy tubing and rectangular section stock. Eventually whether to carry it or not was decided for me when I lost it during a dive and I decided not to replace it as I had by then retired my "Pirometer" MAK 103 which was too heavy, very hard to load and I had to wrap both hands around the handgrip to pull the trigger without twisting the "Pirometer" gun in my hand. Reducing the pressure was an option, but then the shot would be of a lesser power and would obviate my only reason (although I was curious about its "inner workings") for buying that gun in the first place.

Possibly some of our Italian readers can find a "Mordem" loading bar to photograph if they ask some of the "senior men" in the spearfishing fraternity and/or a relative of the Morabito family.

If cable guns have problems then it is usually associated with kinks and twist built up in the woven cable after long periods of use for the latter and long periods of sitting under residual tension for the former. One way to minimize such problems is to demount the cable system over periods where the gun is not being used, such as out-of-season storage and intervals where diving will be suspended due to lack of opportunities to visit the locations where the gun would normally be used. When "cables" meant “woven stainless steel wire” these potentially jamming and cable run de-tracking problems were almost certain, however modern synthetic cables are both strong and pliable and these issues are minimized, but not totally eliminated! In addition to periodic preventative maintenance when cables are replaced with new ones it would be prudent to unload and unwind the cable system during extended periods where the gun is not required for spearfishing use.

A speculative diagram is attached indicating how such a “relaxation” of the entire cable system might be achieved, yet the gun could be restored to full operating condition in a very short space of time by rewinding the cables and re-pressurizing the air reservoir of the gun.

Cable twist can be minimized by allowing side-to-side independent movement of cable "axial" rotation thus.

Pete cable guns have problems….

New problems will be done when a lot of guns.

But I like this idea, a new type of gun.
It has many different options
I'm still thinking.
I found in his old sketches

Yes, this design has been considered by others as well, only here the piston stroke is half the wishbone draw on the top deck, which is good as gun can then have a more compact pressure cylinder built into its structure. Problem still remains to seal the cable traverse of the boundary wall of the pressure chamber. Fluorocarbon polymer mono-filament may serve as the cable, but will cable surface stay smooth (no scratching) and what is its fatigue life? Pulley mounted on piston halves tension going to the wishbone compared with force on the piston face (or in this case the coil spring tension and therefore no sealing required on cable, unless keeping water out of chamber containing the spring.)
