Nice one thunder, I knew there were scallops in the bay I kept looking in the wrong places. There's no substitute for local knowledge. Just finished dinner...delicious.

i`m so " jealous " lads , that you have so cool places to dive.:head
what ground do you have to look for ,to find scallops. and how deep ? i was thinking go diving in Wexford, there are saying that is good place for scallops .

I haven't had much success with scallops in the past Danas. I'd found the odd couple in the same bay, but yesterday we were shown a different spot and they were plentyful. If I hadn't got cold we could've gotten a lot more. They were taken from a sandy bottom between 6 and 8 metres. I've heard there's a lot of scallop dredging off the waterford/wexford coast in deep water so maybe it's a good place to start looking. Good luck

On Monday I left my phone in the dive tub when I rinsed off my dive gear:duh. Because of this I had trouble contacting Donnachad and eventually I headed off to Mizen alone this afternoon.
It was cold, 48 degrees, and there was a bit more wind than on Monday. I got scallops again. (From a little further back East this time Donnachad. Almost to the reefs. It's looking like they're along most of that stretch).

Happy new year all. Myself, baldy, thunder and thunder's mate went west this morning and got a good haul. A very enjoyable dive on a new years eve.

Pity we missed each other sunfish but we're planning another raid for the weekend.

Someone needs to kick off a new thread for 2009. Donnachad, Baldyfish, Thunder, Abusingelves, Danas? Someone do it. Its time!
