Out nightdiving last two nights. No fish taken. Fish seen, Tuesday-small flatties, small pollack, red mullet and other small fish. Wednesday I went to a sand beach between two stone points where I swam out to 30ft depth seeing a few reds but no flats at all. Back in the shallows I saw a bass (2-3lbs), lots of mullet and 2 sea trout.
I've still got to crack the "flattie ground".:)

Anyone out lately? Was scubadiving in camus bay galway last weekend, 7 degrees, brrrr, and i had a drysuit!

I got in last Monday afternoon for an hour. Down here in West Cork the water temp. read 50 degrees on my D3. I think that's about 9 centigrade but I felt colder. I think I'm not burning calories so fast now that I can't get in so often.
Vis was OK. for the time of year at 2 to 3 metres.

Happy christmas lads hope you and the families all have a great oneand a better new year than the economic commentators are telling us we will have. At least freediving dont cost nuthing once you get the gear together.
Nollaig Shona.

Happy Christmas and a prosperous new year to all, is that possible? Anybody fancy a dip in Galway Bay in the New Year, let me know.

Tony

Compliments of the season to you all. The weather's looking better from the weekend on. Maybe we'll get some diving conditions around Christmas. I hope so because I'm getting an Omer xxv gold, 75cm. (To use without the reel for night dives in winter and with the reel for poor vis in summer).

Happy Christmas every one - just in case you have missed the great db gun build, you can get up to speed here The Spearo Board - DeeperBlue Forums

happy christmas lads. cant wait to get some cold dives in soon. weather looks stable next week.....

Hey guys, merry christmas. Hope its a good one for you all and your families.

Looks like we'll have some good spearing weather over the next few days. Hopefully we'll get some viz to match. Thought i'd throw up a photo of a nice wrasse i bagged last May. one of the biggest i've seen, taken at 12m. My grandad was delighted with it. also met an inquisitive seal the same day, which my grandad (87) informed me i should have shot if i got a good chance! He reckoned the old folk always said that there were healing properties in seal oil for burns! Of course let him know that it was no longer ok to kill seals.

Strangely, while in Canada this summer i came across some papers (highly controversial) which found some benefit in using seal oil derivatives in some medical use or other, can't remember if it was burns.
