Hi fcallagy! I'm reading the whole post now, but I'm a bit slow because I'm not very good with the English yet.

I have a 5-6'5 mm freediving wetsuit, so I think it will be enought. So do you think the wheater will be too bad in september-october? In that case, I will wait to take my wetsuit and gun to Dublin, because I will take a lot of things in the first trip.

I hope meet some guys there, because I haven't idea of nothing about there.

Hi all, Anyone out and about lately? Any fish so far this year? Im a scubadiver whos been diving regularly this year, havent seen any big fish yet, just a few small pollock and one or two Wrasse, and a few slow moving Spider crabs. (I dont spearfish, but admire your skill).

any sign of that suit denis?? wind will be still up by sunday i think. southeasterly today veering northeasterly over the next few days. gonna be up around force 4-6. im like a child at christmas waitin for my suit!!

Very good Fergus, soundtrack's a bit dodgy though :) The 1 time I tried that I swallowed sea water on the bottom and started coughing.

No sign of the suit yet Johnny, I'd say another week or two. Had a look at the new Elios that Sunfish got they're a quality suit. Should be out at the weekend. Wind is from the east, should be plenty of sheltered spots

well denis did u get out today?? was going to but looking at that grey sky made me turn over in the leaba. wanna try and get out mid week?? tides are high for evening and weather is due to improve........

Went to lough ine yesterday, 3-4 metres vis, very calm. Didn't see any fish, there was a lot of large scollops in fairly shallow water. Pity you can't take them :head Practiced on depth and time for an hour. Very enjoyable afternoon in a beautiful spot. I'll be around wednesday night Johnny if the weather is good. Give me a shout if your going out.

I'm BACK! Just collected my computer from PC World. It's been being repaired since February. So much for Toshiba/PC World's guarantee/aftersales service.
I've been in the water 13 times now and although there're plenty of crabs around the only fish I've had are mullet. I'm sure there must be bass around by now. I almost always get one by Easter but the water's been a bit cloudy this spring.
I'm busy fitting a Garmin sounder to the kayak. Can't wait.

2007_06280008.jpgI noticed a discussion on the Welsh thread, about dates of first caught bass of the year. These are mine from Easter Sunday 2006, April 16th. They weighed 3lb 11oz and 6lb 11oz.
Last year I spotted 2 on April 17th, though I didn't shoot anything.
I'm sure they'll be around by now.

hey sunfish. was out with denis a few weeks back but both of us blanked. hopefully ill get out west someday to do a bit with you. you seem to be a successful man with a speargun. are you interested in venturing down this way?

Definately on both counts. Pollack are my main interest and your mention of pollack spots in an earlier post got me interested. Bass and mullet are OK to eat but I like the diving and the underwater scenery of pollack hunting.
