heard reports of mackeral and pollack being caught from shore too...might have to dust off my rod and settle for that for a while
Danas u really must stop making us look bad. Well done on the last few catches. Great fish every time!!
I was just wondering, I believe there are quite good numbers of Cod to be caught out on the boats near where I am. The only thing is the currents are quiet strong and divers frequently have to be rescued.
I've often dived spots where I catch plenty of cod in around 8-15M range but I've only ever seen one around 1.5lb mark. It's the one fish I'm mad to spear but they never seem to appear:-(
I got that cod in about 2m deep. it was sleeping in a weed bed. at night they coming to shore . always look under some type of weed leafs . most be some stones and gravel, they dont like only sand. as well if u know where is lot uf mussels , they love them . a day time we getting them in a range from 5m to .... what ever your capabilities are u dive down.

I have a Seatec mini-roller 75, its definitely more powerful than my Omer XXV 75, it does feel a bit cheap, the trigger and the rollers on it could be better. I think I'd go for the 90 if I had to buy a Seatec again because the rollers are better quality, the 90 is a lot more money though.
I find the rollers easier to load, more power and range for the equivalent band sized gun and the recoil is much less as well.
I've been looking at the new Omer ET Roller...I think this could be my next gun.

I´m thinking to organize a Summer Spearfishing Weekend for the bank holiday of 5th of August (3 - Saturday, 4 - Sunday and 5 - Monday) possibly in Kilcrohane (Sheep Head). I would like to know from you if you guys like the idea. There´s plenty of choice regarding accomodation, including a Hostel that charges 14€ per night or 7€ for person if you decide camping.
I was in the area two weaks ago scaning few spots and....well...it´s a interesting place...!
Anyone interested?

Johnnybuoy that looks pretty solid, not sure if it will work well though in practice. It looks like it could be in the way for you to load the wishbone on to the spear shaft and the weight could be a bit far forward which could cause you some wrist strain when holding it for long periods.
I tried something similar last year but eventually I ended up knocking out the pin that holds the chest loader and replacing it with a bolt and galvanised angle bracket. To the bracket I fitted a Gopro Tripod Mount (cost €10) and it actually balances out the slightly muzzle heavy Omer.

Hi Pedro I might pop down for a day. I've dived a good few places on Sheeps head. Great for pollock, shellfish and crayfish.
Derek I'm using a pipe clamp to remove so I'm free to mount it anywhere so ill have a go and see. As for loading, I just release the clamp and the camera drops down. I was hoping that having it mounted as close as possible to the pistol grip I would balance the gun. It's mounted far forward in the photo but it can be easily moved even in the water.
