Now could someone explain me why Italian are not part of AIDA? I am new to the competitive part of freediving (which I practice just for the pleasure it gives me) and I have no idea what's differentiating the various organizations.

Cheers

We italians are almost all out of AIDA because that's forbidden by our official national federation, that is part of CMAS. Months ago the federation gave the order not to take part to any Aida meeting. If you go aida, you're automatically banned by federation and no more allowed to CMAS competitions. So people had to make a choice. :girlie

hi,

i would really appreciate if this thread would stay on topic. there is way too much politics elsewhere already. you can use the search function to look for those. let's just talk freediving here ;)

regards,

roland

Yeah agreed too much politics involved in the freediving world these days...

A great dive is a great dive, enough said!!!

Well done Linda, very pleased to hear of both new records....

the endresult of the 3 day comp for linda is 60m fi (nr), 66m cw (nr) and 42m cnf (nr). three disciplines, three national records. not too bad, eh? :p

and now off to the bar :D

cheers,

roland

hi all,

thanx everybody for the congrats, i appreciate it very very much.
the comp was very nice, i just wish i had more time to train for fi and especially unsassisted, which is a very beautiful discipline, where i wished i did more.

congratulations also to the other competitors, all very nice people, which made a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with everybody congratulating everybody else after every performance, and nobody playing being the star. well, maybe that happens everywhere else, but being my first comp i was very impressed by that.

well, of course congratulations to Natalia M. for the 2 WR, and to Natalia Avseenko who, very quietly (and with a very bad flu) did a 50 mt unassisted equalling the WR for 8 minutes, before Molchanova did her dive!

thanks Monica and Eusebio for the beautiful movie they made of the comp. hey you find 2 WR's in there! plus my samba in static! Eusebio even managed to get second in the overall men, even though he was up every night editing for the movie!

thanks to Bill and Erez for all the white cards they gave me, even though that cost me quite a lot in drinks at the blue hole restaurant!! (just kidding!)

thanx to Natalia M., because she didn't compete in cw so i got a medal for the deepest performance!!

thanks to Andy from germany, who's going to sell me his paradisia, so i can go and train unassisted a bit more seriously. (p.s., subaquaticus, i really recommend you to buy one yourself, apparently it's worth the money!!)

thanks to Peter for the very good organization, everything ran very smoothly until the end, and the personnel he chose was always so very careful in not letting any of the competitors swimming away with one of the official D9 after their performance! (i tried that 3 times myself, and it never worked!)

thanx to Wolle, who brought me some real parmesam from civilized europe!

thanks to the weather, it could have been much better, obviously, but it could have been also a little bit worse...we had 4 days of medium-stormy weather, and the last day was even cloudy (which happens max 2 times a year here!!),but everybody survived!

my special thanks to Roland, the best coach, who always tells me the right thing to do and how to train properly. the last week before the comp, while everybody was diving every day, he had me sitting around, eating and scratching my belly (and being frustrated because i wanted to be in the water!), but obviously rest is as important as training, especially before a 4 days event.

well, i think that's it. now i'm gonna go home and sleep 3 days!

cheers,
linda

and thanks Linda, for painting such a great picture of what it was like to be there!

back in Dahab on 26 december and cannot wait!

Sam

First, allow me to congratulate you for your great performance. Excellent work, I hear...

Secondly, what is a "paradisia" ? Could pls direct me to a web site related ?

Thanx and congrats again !

hi erman,

paradisia is the name of a popular nose clip. when diving unassisted (breaststroke down and up, basically) equalising is a bit tricky as one has to find a rhythm, especially when being shallow, where buoyancy is still great. if you use the search function here you'll find lots of threads/posts about it. unfortunately i don't have a link. these things are very rare, so linda is lucky to have one now :)

hope that helps,

roland
