Leaderfins

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Also thinking about getting some of the carbon Leader fins, not 100% sure it's worth it for my needs though...

...I spearfish in shallow water, 5 - 12m, I weigh 180lbs and usually carry about 18lbs of lead... what hardness would you guys recommend?

Personally I believe hard blades are better for shallow water or for more surface swimming. Softer blades for deeper and less surface swimming. Although softer blades are easier on the legs

So you'd recommend hard blades then?

So much a matter of personal preference there,
i used to swear that hard blades were the only way to go with any fins but then over the years i have adapted my finning action to suit softer blades and find them so much more comfortable to use!
I currently have the mauori sub carbons in soft form and the leaderfin carbons in medium and feel happy diving any depth or doing long surface swims in either pair without having to compromise on performance!

I'm gona chose the omer stingray easy to travel with and a good angle and a softy blade
no need to be to stiff just tune your technique (or weight) and if you dive with gear belt wieghts ,etc is because the water is cold and that tends to stiff a blade a litle

Hi Titan, why the omer stingray are easier to travel? Are they shorter or lighter? The leaderfin blades are sold with the omer footpocket mate and from my point of wiew never had a problem with it.

I think leaderfin blades are glued and stingray are not besides they are much more cheaper and the 22º angle in late experiments and don't see a big diference between my monofin and good bi fins as soon I have money I'm gonna invest in some c4 flaps

Possibly the two most confusing posts on DB ever...

I guess there was never anything about the fins whatsoever

there some try just to make a point it isuselees to try to hear them

but there are some persons who just are here just to humble serve you and in whatever time in the future, don't you just love to listen to them no matter badly spoken or ilogical their point of view are ?

just to clarify leaders aren't glued (so you can exchange blades) - secondly stingrays are plastic fins, so not really a comparison with either fibre or carbon (certainly from a price point of view!) - generally you find that people who go from plastic to either fibre or carbon don't go back to plastic

So to sum up then?

I think its clear enough, everyone is having a nice discussion and that Podge starts wafting fingers around rofl

Personally id go for a mono. Bi fins are sooooo yesterday.

I hope that clarifies things.
