Leaderfins

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
recently bought a pair of waves camo fiberglass fins, received the order only 9 days after payment! the fins feels and looks great, fiberglass works 100 times better than my old mares instinct plastic fins.. :inlove

I got a question. I want to get a pair of the Stereo Carbon WAVES blades and pair them with the NEMO footpocket. Now, in this thread it is said that the stiffness rating for Leaderfins are one down from the norm. I want fins that are soft, for deep diving. Now I am worried that if I pair the soft blades with the soft NEMO footpockets, it'll be too soft, as supposedly it already is too soft with the stiff OMER footpockets. However, I am very small, 5'2'' weighing 45kgs. Maybe it'll work out?

Any thoughts? I need advice.

hi sailbandy, personally i would recommend medium stiffness, as you are not using omer foot pockets..otherwise soft would have been ok - feel free to PM or email me for any further info

How do you pay Leaderfins? I seem to be having trouble initiating a wire transfer. My bank will only let me transfer to personal accounts and they need a routing number despite people saying that it is not necessary. Anyone else have problems like this?

hi there, shipping is £15 anywhere in the world, and is added as you go through the order process

cheers

Dave

I had a few dives now with my Leader fins and I did't expect to be so good, all I can say they are so light that you dont even feel to wear it they have also a good kicking response I mean they push you fast with less efforts specially when you've to leave the bottom and this is good when you're running out of oxigen. And If you want a good service log on fins4you.co.uk I got mine both for £130 complete with omer footpocket. Highly reccomendable.
Toni

Hi,

Which stiffness have you ordered?

Are there any new review?

I'm in doubt in medium or hard, i use the black team, but they are so stiff.

Thanks

Hi, just have read on one of the Russian spearfishing forums that Leaderfins are fiberglass fins just laminated with carbon fiber material. Do you think it is true? I'm not sure that it it is making them lesser fins, but definetely can explain low price. I'm thinking about buying them too - my Gara Pro served me well, but I'm spending a lot of time on the surface and Gara's angle is maybe too small for me and stiffness too high for that type of hunting. Any opinions on that?

Hi there, yes they are mixed fibreglass and carbon, not pure carbon ( very few fins are pure carbon and those that are cost a bomb!) . I used to use the gara fins and found them quite heavy. I would suggest either a medium or hard blade would be better for you

Got it. Thanks for the information.
Do you think that such 'sandwich' design negatively affects performance of the fin? - in one discussion here there was a post comparing cheap vs. expencive fin and conclusion from semi-scientific experiment was that there is no noticible performance difference between plastic and high end carbon (i.e. C4's) fins, just subjective comfort level. And why people and manufacturers even bother with carbon then if there is little benefit - just because of the hype or there is more substantial reason behind it?

I will admit the benefits aren't huge, but I'm pretty sure 99% of people who have gone from plastic to carbon won't go back. The idea is that they are lighter and more responsive so in essence you use less energy

I bought the carbon medium and glass medium blades. I mounted the glass blades in Picasso pockets. They work great. The only issue I had was the length. They are longer so they don't fit in the fin pocket of my dive bag. Other than that I love them. I haven't mounted the carbon blades yet.

Just received my Stereowaves in hard. I used the Sporasub Revolutions before, now I know what HARD means... I guess I just need to learn to use them.
As I liked the idea of Sporasub to use racing bike shoes instead of footpockets... I could not help copying them...http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/ChkOcGIi7YUjeD3VWC_W5w?feat=directlink

directly from leaderfins (LeaderFins.com). Shipping within Europe is about 20 €

but if I'm right you need to pay tax + import tax if you take them directly from leaderfins?

fins4u is in the EU so no tax inside eu countries, that means, that the price paid on the internet site is the whole price

another question - I have sent this to the uk reseller and here is his answer:

Hi Rok
They will fit other foot pockets as blades only will be sent plain, so they can be setup accordingly.
Currently Alga design is only available in fibreglass and not carbon

Regards
David

so this means I can actually fit the blades to ANY shoe myself? OFC any shoe that has a replacable blade?

I have never owned a replacable blade fin, so I'm totaly new to this. Can anyone enlighten me?

thanks
