That bug was 17 1/2 pounds. I'm 6'1" for reference. Look at the claw size. That crusher claw is 5 to 6 pounds alone. I got one 15 pounds once, too. 2 - 3 pounds is considered sort of average here. I was going to post this on the lobster thread but just recently dug the photo out.

 Well now, THAT was embarrassing..... Pictures are a little hard to judge by but I didn't know I was that bad. :duh Shows you how much I know about Lobsters (Besides the fact that I like to eat them and, no, they do NOT taste "just like chicken!".

17 1/2lbs!!! Now thats huge :) Must admit at first glance I thought it was alot smaller too, untill I noticed the size of Marks hands in comparison

Third try at this !! Apart from my diving, I have a passion for free-flight and birds of prey.

This is a pick of me with my favourite Black Eagle, his name is Mick.
( South African version of a Golden Eagle.)

Thats fantastic Bluecape....

You got MAJOR Majestic animal of the air;) I heard such "trained" animal cost quite a lot..

Did you catch him yourself? or bought it, then trained? What's yours favorite preys and how his intelligence and taking order??

Hi Murat

Mick does not belong to me unfortunately !! He is housed with a friend of mine who does rehabilitation for injured birds. Mick was rescued from a nest as a chick, ( he was the weaker of the 2 chicks which means he would have been eaten) He has become a kind of ambassador for Black eagles, featuring in TV commercials, school talks etc. Mick is flown every day, he cruises over the mountains, then returns. He was fed as a chick by a puppet of an eagle, so he does know he is an eagle, as opposed to being raised as an 'imprint'.

Cheers

Jeff, that eagle is amazing!

I like birds too, but it wouldn't be possible for me to keep big ones, as they need lots of outdoor space for free flight, and in London :waterwork .

<THUNK!>

That is the sound of my jaw hitting the floor.

What an exquisite bird! WOW! :mute

Absolutely gorgeous!

Aye, Naiad, big cities choke the life out of the predatory human. London falconers have been pretty much restricted to sparrowhawks for a couple of hundred years, now, and they are flighty, delicate little killers. Unless you could manage to get access to a good rooftop to fly a peregrine on city pigeons, you're in difficult straights. On the other hand, falconry is less a sport than a religion! If you're not committed to daily bird work, stick to spearing. That's why I don't have one, either.

Thats why you need to find a friend with a nice bird Lucia, you get to visit as often as you like!! :=) My goal is to oneday fly my paraglider with Mick.:D

One more picture, this is a shot taken from my paraglider, flying over my favourite spearfishing area, the venue is the Southern Cape coast, in Wilderness, a GREAT spearing venue, and my favourite Musclecracker hunting grounds;)

Those are Canadain Geese and Malard Ducks. and yes. they will ALL get eaten. Infact had a bunch of them last night with a couple buddies and a case of beer :D I don't buy meat from a store (with the exception of fish as I'm now land locked and some deli meats).
