Are there any New Zealanders competing? I have heard Niki Roderick is competing. Where is Ant Williams?

Sadly Nicki is it for the NZ "team" this time around. Dave Mullins was seriously considering going, but hit the same roadblock as the rest of us - big $ in terms of the travel costs from this part of the world.

Ant has moved over to Aus to take up an HR leadership role recently I've been told.

Maybe if the NZ media focused a little less on rugby and soccer they could explore some more diverse subjects such as freediving. If that happened the athletes would have more chance for sponsorship.
Ant seems to having shifted gears but up or down, I do not know. If he has to concentrate on making heaps of money then how can he stay focused on his diving?
Go Niki!

and on that note better luck with soccer next time in japan, AHLY rules !!!
cheers

Guys sorry for being away for the weekend - I was testing my new variable sled (1,9m/sec decent and still improving WOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWW) and was away from a PC. The info I got from static was:
Greece Men Tzanerakis 7:05 (approx) Chatziaslan 6:30 (approx) Iatrou 6:15 (approx)
Ladies Skotida 5:27 New NR, Fraggouli 5:05, Balanou 3:40

The mens performance was very solid and moved them up in the ranking - I was surprised to see a lot of teams with strong STA performances like the SWE where everyone was capable of 6:30+ not actually achieving it... In the Greek team everyone was very near their PBs and I think that Chatziaslan (who is quickly rising in the rankings) probably made a PB with his 6:30...its his first year competing.
Now the only problem is that DYN is not the GRE team's strong dicipline.

Other news include that Herbert missed his top (and probably the 10sec no penalty window) and so when he started he knew he had penalty points so even if he did a WR performance it would not count as a WR (it has to be penalty free) so he just did a static that would gurante him the first place in individual ranking

I will try to report on DYN results as the day progresses

Cheers Stavros

I'm wonderring how will Czechs do. Heard Stepanek's static was a real battle with a terrible coughing after it. I believed he would go for 200m dynamic but not so sure now. He's a true pro so he'll surely go for shorter but safe (points guaranteeing) swim.

Marwan, just like Glenn and Serge said - BIG THANK 2 YOU! I just could read the news, and I really felt, the excitement of the competition!

Herbert! Congratulations!!!

Gratulations for the Czech team, nice dives!

Looking on Performance Freediving website they have Liv Philip doing a 5:24 static, which is, I think, a new GB record. If that's right - Way To Go Liv, well done!

Where have you found that on Performance Freediving?
I get a 404 not found error when I click on the static and dynamic start list !
