Music to drive by, what you got??

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 90 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
The Pogues certainly have authentic appeal. Put me in mind of some other great artists:

YouTube - Tom Waits - Tom Traubert's Blues - 1977
His songs, You Can Never Hold Back Spring or, this Easter Sunday, his song Chocolate Jesus might be more (in)appropriate but I like this one better.

how come?:head

lots of songs of Tom
& you find my best ??

anyway
here one
for you & for Spago
Tom waits & Bennigni in down by low
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKCv87ZuIlE&feature=related]YouTube - Down by Law i scream for ice cream[/ame]

also a bit of history
Jethro Tull Black Sunday

This thread is like "Golden Oldies" with Dave Lee Travis

In the days when I used to drive a clapped-out sedan this was one of my
favourites. Especially the instrumental from 1:51 onwards.

I meant I like the Tom Waits song in the video, Tom Traubert's Blues, best of those 3. I'm not that familiar with his work but I've stumbled on a few good one. Don't much care for the Ice Cream one either :D.

In a similar vein, this song got a lot of media coverage in the UK over Christmas last year, 3 different versions inc. Leonard's own. (Dublin tie-in too:D):

(Looks a lot like actor Leonard "I am not Spock, I am serious actor" Nemoy is this video)

The above has raw authenticity but the late Jeff Buckly's version is sublime:

Interesting stuff Badlander. I've never heard any of those. Not bad. I had a good friend at University who was into rock-a-billy. He had another friend who lived rock-a-billy -- apparently a fun way to live, although rather c. 1950s!

Speaking of driving and music, they did a massive study (a long time ago now) where they discovered that people have more car accidents listening to music then when they don't, but do you know what the #1 accident-causing piece of music was...??? rofl

And I’m not surprised, if someone started giving it the big-un like that in my ear while I was half through a junction I reckon I’d be up and in the nearest hedge to.roflrofl

YouTube - Wagner - Die Walküre: "The Ride of the Valkyries" (Boulez)
Interesting, normally call it The Flight of the Valkyries over here. I like it but a long trip to the French alps with an opera fan spoiled me for most opera I'm afraid (no asprin is strong enough for that). I would have guess something like: White-Line Fever; Bomber; Speed King; pretty much anything by Iron Maiden. There was a tune in the US that tended to have that effect on me, driving on the edge of turbo-boost that's not a good thing, I forget the song/group, a US band maybe Aerosmith/GunsNRoses, somebody like.

Did I post this one recently? (Original Punk-style vocalist Paul DiAnno:) - unfortunately no Dennis Stratton on Les Paul :( ):
