My little freediving stragety

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 90 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
you know, you guys are all have good points. i assure you im being as safe as i can about it, and i do have add. i dont like to talk about it but hell its true. im not a real bad case where i cant pay attention in class, but sometimes during a movie halfway thourgh ill just be like "i dont feel like this anymore...". its mostly under control but my mind wanders, so contractions come, focus dies, and those kinds of things. i dont think any of you guys would want to completely lose your focus like 30m down, and neither do I. my best safety net is if i do lose focus, it wont be THAT bad. i guess add makes freediving a bit harder for me, so mabye thats why im trying to cut corners. not in the sport but cutting corners around my limits i guess?

as for meditation, i will be taking up ninjitsu soon (man i have a million interests. come to think about it maby thats why i cant focus and keep searching... damn everything makes sense now...), and that has alot of mental aspect. hoping for tai chi too. yoga isnt quite something id like to pursue. the bad part is, i can blank my mind, by concentrating on my breathing. kinda hard to do when freediving dontcha think? lol.

but ya, does this mean im doomed to never fully reach my limits cause my focus is rather unpredictable? i generaly get contractions early cause i start to think about it, and i dont know how you guys just act all calm and forget about them, i feel it 100% and take it like a man (who has no other choice :()

my add isnt THAT bad (i hope?) but still, any other solutions? hypnosis seemed easy. less i can use hypnosis/ SM to get rid of the little add problem...

i guess it would make a bit more sense.. but for now i like my add, lets me learn like sooo much (i take up a new interest like everymonth and research everything until theres not much left to learn and i cant afford it, so i keep lookin. in the end ive gotten real smart, and i stuck with freediving cause i can actualy do it, i just need water, no real gear. alot of people say im realy smart in general, like i know alot about a very vast range of things, and id like to think its cause of that, so im not prepared to give it up YET, its a real advantage if you can channel it, mabye theres a way to do that instead... like a mental on/off button?)

and jimdoe2you, 1, 2, 3 seem alot like me. its not THAT bad is it (god i hope not, i thought i had it under control!)

i know your not (all) psychologists, but your older and wiser. advice?

At 15, you're way ahead of the game. Don't be in such a rush, and spend time reading up on older threads in this forum. Deeperblue.net is an incredible resource for improving your knowledge base on freediving.

edit: pardon the wierd way it came out, its a panorama (a last minute one LOL) too bad my fins got cut off :(...

shheeeesh!
I HOPE YOU HAVE GOT YOUR FEET TOGETHER WHEN I TALK TO YOU NOW!

what's in the tank? (peering closely at wearing my nose clip)
You should get a wash basket for your dirty clothes sonny-boy!
And empty your waste paper basket!
Do you shop at IKEA? :D
God you could grow things that room - its no wonder you faint!

Essential equipment is required to enter your room, like this here!

Hi Superhornet,
you seem pretty well adjusted at 15 and the fact that your taking advice on board speaks for your maturity. just wondering as you seem to know about different types of diets (alkalising ) etc have you tried differnt foods with regard to add. I know it can make a huge difference to some, what do you usually eat and these also effect your brain activity may be the speed it works at and concentration etc just wondering. Also I dont think people here are offended at trying to take short cuts and are usually pretty open minded to anything that helps their training / freediving everyone just tries to help each other out.

Hmm, room looks ok to me, much better than my garage. If ADD was an insurmountable barrier, I wouldn't be a freediver nor lots of other people.

You're doing fine , Superhornet. Just slow down a bit, be a little careful, find a buddy when you hit the water and keep asking questions.

Oh yeah, I agree that it is way too early for you to get much, if any benefit out of fancy stuff, packing, hypnosis, etc. Just get wet, practice what you know and get comfortable (the most important thing). Once you are comfortable with modest skills, the more advanced stuff will become useful. Enjoy the journey.

heh thanks for the advice and kind words everyone. and as for my room.... well its surprisingly organized and comfortable. other than the clothes.most people organize things systematicly, say alphebeticly. i do it by where i feel it belongs. so if you need... say a screwdriver. wheres the first place youd look for it? thats where i put stuff, on where i FEEL it belongs, and surpirisingly i very rarely ever lose things. and about the gas mask... i actualy am saving up for one for real (not for my room, but for what mischivieous abuses of scince that occur on that desk. look closely its covered in burn makrs and "exotic chemical stains" :D:D:D)
and in that tank i got a snake, ill edit this a bit later to show you him (corn snake)

And I always thought a sphere had two sides....the inside and the outside:t

if only the earth was hollow... oyu could skydive and never need a parachute, and when you finaly reach middle, take the elevator back up. SWEET, but we all know theres stuff in the earth (the mantle, in and outer core DUH)

hey superhornet, here's something for you to think about...
if there was a hole in the earth from one pole to the other through the centre of the earth, what would happen to you if you jumped in?
i am a secondary (high) school science teacher and ask my very bright students this.
i have a busy mind too, when i am freediving or doing statics i keep my mind busy with questions i need to really htink about. it can detract from the experience a bit but only in such a way as to keep that noisy bit of your head quiet i find the rest of the dive i can not s much concentrate on but experience. it is hard to get the words right but i hope you get the message.
by the way, i am also an NLP practictioner and use NLP to help me set targets for everything in my life, including freediving. NLP is an amazing set of ideas that allows us to use our brains to set simple measurable achievable realistic targets (SMART).
from your posts you are an intelligent man but need focus, as you say. you can use this method of target setting to help your freediving, i do. set yourself a SMART, achieve it, then use what you have learnt to set another SMART. dont try nad exceed your targets, reach then then set more challenging goals. this has helped me wiith my freediving AND my focus . you are keeping your busy brain occupied with the info it desires adn improving your freediving at the same time.
this post has rambled a bit but i hope that it is all helpful to you. good luck
