...and what about a DVD of the event??

It would be cool to do something like this as well, but there are only a few freedivers who would buy it, and in this day and age there is nothing to protect small productions from pirating. Perhaps a compilation of the video diaries wouldn't require any additional effort from the videographers, and would still be nice to watch on a big screen at home in hi-def?

To 'pay' for a DVD, one could have the sponsors pay for the production, since their brands are in the video and maybe also in the intro and credits list, maybe even full time in view in with some overlay logo in a corner.
For the distribution you could burn a copy for your calculated cost, and or bittorrent and or some uploading website.

This way sponsors get much bigger exposure as well the producers and your great event generating more interest amongst a wider audience.
Producers could sell a special 'cut' version to Eurosport or other TV networks.

BTW I saw the Ocean All Star Promo reel video, and think you're going to get some very nice shots well worth to fill the big screen. With some edited in voice of athlete walking through the dive with comments about each stage of the depicted dive would be great.

Will you're doing a great job getting not only the best athletes there but also getting a great video crew! Bravo! - I hope your training goes just as well!

Love, Courage and water,

Kars

Great first day of comp, can't wait to see the results of day 2 which looks even more bloody exciting!!

Photos on FB are great too. A question - looks like Ryuzo is gettting a ride up on his Day 1 FIM WR attempt, had he BO'ed underwater or was he just saving himself and getting a free ride back up?

Best of luck for today/tomorrow (depending on your time zones)!

Cheers,
Ben

They write Ryuzo asked safeties for the lift to save his arms, so no blackout.

The results for Day 2 is up at Verticalblue:

William Trubridge News

Dave Mullins made his 114 meter CW dive. Congratulations, Dave! Have your previous problems with narcosis this deep become more manageable?

Yes, I had almost no narcosis on that dive. I'm diving very differently now and spent a fair bit of time acclimatising to depth in NZ before I came over. The two years of solid pool training since 2008 have also helped; playing back the dive on my watch it seems I was holding 1.7-1.8m/s for the first half of the ascent, and only slowed to 1.4m/s near the surface. Was weighted pretty light though! Peak descent speed 1m/s.

I am glad to hear that you found a way around your problem, Dave. Thanks for sharing, and best of luck to you and the other divers with the remaining days of the comp :)

Congratulations to everyone who completed there dives! nice one Dave!

But most of all CONGRATULATIONS Walter NEW Australian FIM record!!!!!!

I don't see why Dave wouldn't be able to contest with Herbert this time...

Godspeed Dave!

Way to go WAL top stuff man, congratulations. Cant wait to see more of your results throughout the comp. Watching closely from a raining fnq.

Have you people seen the new announcements????

William Truebridge goes for a new WR in CNF. - we sort of expected that to happen but...

WILLIAM WINRAM also announced 92m CNF!!!

I would have killed to see Truebridges face when he took not of that 'old chap's announcement! LOL!

Now I can say wholeheartedly, Go William, Go William!
