[News] Vertical Blue 2011 Athletes In-List

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
I just happen to notice the difference in speed of Eric's - Natalia's and Dave's dive.

Yes you can also compare to Wal's, he did 102 too. I'm surprised about Dave's being so much faster, I know from what he wrote here previously that slower descend speeds were resulting in less narcosis and oddly Wal was saying that faster worked better for him but looks like it was the other way round in the results..

I guess 'faster' and 'slower' are relative terms but Dave's dive does look quite fast - depends what happened on the dive and what the dive profile was, we'll have to wait and see :)

Well it was sixty seconds on ascent, so he's sticking to the slow descent speed. If you've watched his dives, he doesn't seem to be putting a great amount of effort into the kick, but good technique and streamlining means he ends up going quite quickly. Also, the airline broke both his fins so he's borrowing a stiffer fin than normal.

I saw Will's update on FB, sounds like he's trying to beat Dave's ascend time lol

You can compare the speeds on the dive profiles on Will's facebook page. There are plenty of them.

So who's diving with the Dol-fin? The suspense is killing me :)

So who's diving with the Dol-fin? The suspense is killing me :)

Simo,

I have the DOL-Fin Orca #001 with me here at the Blue Hole. I have been using it in training in the 60-65m range, but it is very technical for vertical diving (compared to dynamic, where it is very simple to use). I haven't really had enough time to learn how to use it. I am still getting tips from Ron as well.

Good luck everyone before last act :)

I hope Dave will sort out his eq problems, and do what he is capable off:)

Matt

I suspected something like that, but was hoping the 104m was with dol-fin :) Well, 60+ is still pretty good for a developmental monofin replacement thingy.

Molchanova 100m CWT world record two hours ago, white card !! Dive time 3'41".

Congrats to Natalia, well deserved!

Also congrats to Wal for a great dive and NR to 106m!

So very rare to read a news article that gets it right.

Thanks Kelp Princess

Yes great to see that, thanks for posting.

Is that true about Natalia's BO at 50ft? Not sure if something happened there but that's around 15% less of her WR today, goes to show how different one dive can be from the next

On the 103m attempt (day 1), Natalia blacked out at more than 10m. I don't know the exact depth.

Thanks Ivo for compiling the results. There do seem to be some weird things in the stats, all the dates are 2007, Carla is shown with a red card on 49m but full points (actually white card).... and I'm not sure why each list starts with a high performance, goes down to a low performance, then jumps to a high performance and decreases again...(i.e. men, women, CWT)? Maybe I misunderstand ?
