dyl12321, you can't really say that, there are two groups, you are right, one hunts primarily for food and the other primarily for sport, but it is not correct to say what you said at the end. For many in the sporting group, night spearfishing is unsportsmanlike. The food group feels attacked by this but your goal is not the same so why do you care what others say?
Spearfishing at night or with scuba gear for that matter makes it easier to catch fish, which is why the people in the food group have no issue with this since their goal is to catch lots of big fish to feed their families. For the sports group they see it as an unfair advantage against the fish and thus unsportsmanlike.
People, just accept there are two primary reasons for spearfishing and stop fighting each other. Maybe if people stated their primary reason for spearfishing on their profile and when they reply to threads like this one things would be less aggressive..
Personally I spearfish for sport, it relaxes me and even if I catch nothing I am happy, the fish were better than me that day, I lost and they won. If it is too easy one day then I am not satisfied either, there was no hunt. I do however understand that for some it is the opposite.
Peace and may all enjoy their spearing for whatever reason they do it.
