North Devon Spearfishing

Hi Guys, I'm a newbie looking spearfish/bob around in the North Devon area. I have started to get some kit together and plan to get in for some swimming/snorkeling practice end of January weather permitting!....lol. Tbh I just want to use the kit and cannot wait until the summer as I work away for a lot of the year. The fins look like a challenge that's for sure. I guess it's very hit and miss but, does anyone else spearfish in the winter, North or South coast?.

cheers

Adam

There are a few people who dive through winter. It may be worth joining a club such as Exe Spearfishing club. They are very knowledgable and have club dives. On the North Coast the viz will be quite difficult.

Hi north1, I will look into the Exe Spearfishing Club, thanks for the heads up. It's a pity about the viz side of things. Looks like I will be heading South a few times. Thanks for the info

Hi guys,
Been spearing round North Devon a couple of years but wondered are there any scallop beds around in shallow enough water to free dive for? Pm me if you have any detail. Cheers
