It's my way to get through winter without going crazy! A couple of weeks ago I was in Spain for a week. Westher was not good for diving but managed a couple of bass, a nice gilthead and lost a 30 kilos whiteseabass for very very very little! Great shot but tye fish went around a huge boulder and snap the line just a second before we could give it the second deadly shot. :-(

30kg white sea bass in med?Didn't think they would be over this way? Thought they were west coast of states and down Mexico .Learn some thing new every day!Losing that must of gutted you .great to hear that your keen and active can't wait for some exciting stories from you!

I was in the south of Spain in the Atlantic. They are not exactly white seabass but are of the same family and are very similar. My favorite fish ever! After i shot the fish my mate followed the line down thinking it was stuck on the rock with a bass or something and we turn around it he found the big fish on the shaft. Swam towards it to give the second shot when he saw the lne getting strectched and just a moment before he could shot it snapped and the fish got the meter further and he missed it. Damn it!

They are related to WSB and I think in Portugal they call them Corvina and on the Atlantic coast of portugal they can grow BIG.

Yes they are called corvina in Spain as well. They have been caught up to 40-50 kilos I think. This is a 20 kilos I caught last year.

Does anyone know if the rod / net fishermen are still catching bass in north Wales? Seems they are still being caught in South Devon. But the weather is looking ropey for the foreseeable....

Have looked n looked but can't get any joy from fishing forums with reference To bass still Being caught.May be no ones out because of the crap weather .A bit like us lot!.Ropey for the foreseeable future is a under statement!Don't think there will be many bass around if and when it clams down, but maybe we should be looking for other seasonal fish ?will the flounder, place, ,Pollock ,cod,be around?or crabs, lobsters and scallopes?

Merry Christmas , quick vid of conditions off Ravens point , Holy Island , Anglesey. Pretty brutal , 40-50 knots easy, and a still of Treaduer bay. All taken on Christmas eve.

Came across my Gar fish when digging in the freezer for Xmas goodies so gave it a go !turquoise bones least they stand out for filleting .The bones are vertical and horizontal in a cross so I had four quarter fillets after skinning ...umm...slithers...good job it was a big Gar fish it tasted great with scallopes and pollock!
