just got back. sun set on me while i was finning a mile back to car in foggy water no fish shot at swam with another shole of mullet circling me , its as if they know im not after them like the dopey wrass!saw some monsters fin away from me in string weed a very spooky session it was like the film "alien" with foggy 2m vis .i was trying to be stealthy but couldnt stop giggling like a girl ! LoL.a few smaller bass and more mullet seen.as for tomorrow if the winds still n/e n light south side any where should be good on high .will be hotter tomorrow to ive got to head home 1st thing on morning!shame think its going to be the best day of weekend.

sea looks glassy flat this morn looking over to the mon bit foggy but should be good day see what wind does by dinner time north will be a goer i think .flat and silvery looking over to pen mon point from a55 earlyer.duh back home !

Quick video from Sunday morning i'm a very good boy for not nailing those fish !.The mullet circled me getting nearer each time. Fantastic Experience I was after bass I think they knew. The sea trout were 3m away I could clearly see the spots on them.The Go Pro wide angle make things look further away. Very nice video Ian, did you use windows live movie maker ? any videos I edit on that end up in a weird format that my web hosting site photobucket wont upload. What other editing software are people using that ends up in normal format like .mov or mp4.?
Here is a short clip from a recent session where I missed a big bass , its upside down as I can upload the edited version where I have rotated it the right way ! Also excuse the harsh blue, I forgot to tweak the white balance before I set off so picture is a bit nasty.
Vis was 4-6m and gun was double wrapped or else I wouldn't have attempted that shot which I felt was on pretty much max range of the double wrapped spear. Or should I have waited in the hope the bass made another pass closer?

I got in this afternoon, first stop was the Menai Strait, bad move as the water was really moving, I didn't dare get in to the deeper water as it was so fast, so a pottered around in the 3m deep margins, vis wasn't great 1-2m. First dive a saw a large tail disappear in to the murk as I descended and heard a couple of tail slaps, but saw nothing else. After a while I was getting frustrated and hadn't realised that I'd drifted out a bit then suddenly I was screaming along and then BANG! a lions mane jellyfish right in the face, it's still stinging now!!! Pi55ed off I got out, straight in to the car and off to a new spot on the west of Anglesey.
Straight away vis was 3+ meters, swimming out everything felt right, lots of kelp spotted with stringweed, not so deep, topping off at around 5m, that said I didn't see anything of note until I checked out the shallows around the rocks, a mid sized pollack swam under me, I took a shot but missed and hit the rocks pretty hard with the spear. A little later I notice what I initially thought was a carrier bag on the bottom, but it was moving in a strange way, so when I dive down to investigate it's actually the remains of a large deep bodied fish, possibly a bream being picked at by a decent lobster, but he sees me coming. I try my best moves but cant get behind to get a grab.
Heading back in I try looking for flatties in the shallows, then out of the corner of my eye I see something, a good sized mullet, but it's a little far away and swimming away, so I get a shot off, hit and it's stoned, but as I pull in the line the fish swims away but is in bad shape, and isn't on the line, so I give chase with knife in hand, he's performing loop the loops, but keeps getting away. Finally I manage to corner it and stick the knife right in just behind the gills, there's blood everywhere and I'm knackered from the chase. :thankyouLooking at the fish, I'd hit it on its back just behind the head, but the spear was blunt from the earlier shot in to the rocks. Gutted and cleaned it checked in at 3.5lb.

I'm afraid not Dario, with the water temps as they are I would've cooked in my own juices in the 7mm Polo Sub suit, so I opted for the 5mm Elios which has no pissette, perhaps it was the smell of me marinading in my own urine......:duh

I made it to the south llyn yesterday. Vis wasn't great, milky 2m. I spent 4hrs sitting in string weed at highwater, waiting for the bass, but they never showed. Managed a few nice mullet though - sorry about the cheesy pic!. Also saw a lovely sea trout sitting in the weed. I left her alone.
Got home at 1am after 4hrs on the road! Ah the joys of being a sea lover in the Midlands! It's going to be a long day at work!!

Went in on saturday, visibility was terrible. Patches of ok water and others where I could barely see the end of the shaft. Plenty of big mullets about but kept holding myself in the hope of a good bass. Finally the good bass came along with a smaller one. The smaller inexperience bass just stops in front of the shaft while the big one keep the distance and circle me very fast. By the time I manage to aim it unfortunately it is just at the limit of the visibility and I can only see the shiny line of the head. I successfully hit fish in this way in the past so try the shot and...missed! Grrrr
Load the gun again and carry on diving. Mullets keep coming and finally another good bass again. This time the shot is easy and the bass is landed.
I don't normally shoot mullets but I asked my gf if she wanted one to change taste and she says yes. But every dive I see them in the hope of a bass I don't give it a go. Until a bass come and bang I shoot it. The shaft pass the fish and hit a mullet on the back. I'm happy and my gf too.
Second day I decide to go to a spot very far. Out of the harbour the water looks spectacular. I have about 1 h boat ride and while driving I think "it is going to be good today". But the more I drive the more he water looks green. I am already far so I decide to carry on and check out the place. You never know. I arrive there and the water is full fat milk. I dive down and the water is horrible. I go back to the boat and I notice that I used half of the tank. I don't have much choice and I have to back up to some bad and busy busy places. I drive back and I do my best between boats, jet ski etc.
It felt like diving in a washing machine and some guys seriously attempted my life! At the end I was happy although another good fish missed.

My fins and my phone now.
I am planning to buy a VHF radio though. Since I don't have it, if I drive off shore I always keep an eye on my phone to check if it has signal.
