Hi MerseyBoy. Hope you guys don't mind me jumping in but, my good lady just treated myself to a Pathos Open 90 for Xmas. Cannot fault it.
From the spear flapper design resting in the muzzle notch, the fit and alignment of muzzle/handle to shaft, full length rail, D'Angelo 2 all metal reverse mech handle. Could go on and on. Cannot find fault yet.......as its still not been used in anger.
Worth noting is that due to the reverse mech the spear sits further back along the handle which efectively means that although the gun pulls a draw length of a 90 its actual overall length is the same as my Beuchat Carbone 85, so win win. Also the gun is lighter than the Carbone!!
Can't really see the finish (which appears very durable) having a huge effect on a Dyneema considering how easy it is to keep and eye on it and change as required but, I'll start with the steel wishbone and see how it goes (looks quality).
Finally the spear notches are nice and smooth from new so see no issue in fitting a Dyneema straight in.
Fins 4U are shown on Pathos site as being UK distributor and at price he's currently doing these for it must represent one of the best deals currently available. Service was first rate BTW.
On appearance and finish and spec I highly recommend if any left.

Ok couple of questions. Anybody know when the scallop season ends in north Wales. Also are there ever any spearo comps in the area?
Scallop season is closed between 1st May and the 31st October, to the best of my knowledge.
There aren't any comps in North Wales, there are far too few spearos - most of us live so far from the sea there's no real chance of a club forming - people are coming from Manchester, Chester, Liverpool with a couple coming from the Midlands & Shropshire. Most of us dive alone. I have to drive over 100 miles to get to the sea.
If there was need for us to join together to protect our collective interests, I'm sure a club would spring up pretty quickly but as no-one seems to bother us, we're all quite autonomous.
Decided to give my new gear a quick test this afternoon in a little lake. Was in the water for almost two hours and could have gone on for much longer but had to get back home. Only had the 5mm Cressi suit and was pretty warm and comfortable, just the finger tips started to feel the cold but that's with a 3mm glove and a good time later. Don't know what the water temp was but felt freezing on the face. So all seems good to go. Just need a bit of good weather now and the bass to make an appearance.

Anyone been near the Llyn ? Any vids pictures ? Things won't look the same when we get back down beaches will be gone and some will have appeared ,bays ,cliffs ,rocks,all changed ! Any thoughts any one? Will there be any scallopes left? Or will they have been dumped on the beaches?May try and get down soon as !

Yes barracudas, a yellow jack and a permit. Those groupers are called gew fish and they are protected and by the way real bastards as they eat your fish if you don't rush in recovering it. That's why I quickly pull all the fish with me like mad, you cannot see it on the video but those bastards were going for it.

New to the forum. Live in Colwyn Bay, have some kit. Quite fancy a scallop dive once this wind backs off. - Keen to be shown the ropes. Also into surfing, windsurfing, sailing. Bit of a water baby. Hopefully will do regualr evenings once the water cleans/warms up.

i think that the pathos open /open pro 82cm is ideal for the uk (sometimes even a 60 feels long!!). very good gun

on second thought the price you get from the uk supplier is excellent now i have seen it! my only suggestion is to get a rubber "cushion" for the loading end of the gun as per Dario's pics as it can be really painful to load without. i use removable thermoplastic material to load it. but i love the gun. mine came with 2 shafts and with an open and closed head (i ordered it many years ago directly from the manufacturer) but ended up using only the open one. the reverse mechanism of the gun is patented and now used in lots of different makes.
cheaper alternatives are Bucanero which is also a railgun. i have a 96cm one and take it when i go abroad as an all rounder.
more bespoke guns are much more expensive ... have a look at Bluegreen.gr
certainly for the uk waters 60-82 is more than enough (for bass) and at these sizes the rail is really not necessary....

Ok looking for a another gun, mainly for UK was thinking about the pathos open laser, looking at fins4u the Carbon 90 looks good but is the non carbon 75 a contender?
