I have stolen these top secret pics from an italian forum (mercy on me, scusate ragazzi: è la globalizzazione).
The new OMER Kaiman spearguns series will be in catalogue three days from now to fully replace all the Excalibur series.
The glorious Excaliburs will be discontinued and remain on sale till stock clearance.

These are just prototipes. More details tomorrow. The Kaimans will be three different railguns, with round or ellyptical barrells (both in allu and carbon) and multifunction muzzle (close/open/eurobands/circular).

Excellent news and pics Spaghetti!

It will be nice to see the new spearguns and their specs.

Cheers,

RC

Don't you think that the handle looks astonishingly similar to the Pathos/Effesub handle?
I am very curious to see the new guns!

That was my first impression too (the loading pad is really similar from side view). But I think the wrist angle of the handle is different: should be the same of the T20, good for enduring recoil. By now I don't know anything about the trigger.
The muzzle should be very similar to the Omer XXV, with the 4 changeable set ups.
They say great things about the barrels. One of the outcoming models, the Kaiman HF, will come with an ellyptical barrell with a built-in rail (not "over", but "in") both in carbon and alluminium.

Hey Spaghetti, you are our top spy
Thanks for sharing the pics! The handle really looks like the Pathos handle... Interesting concept on the safety too.

maybe the muzzle will be something similar to the XXV series?

Sure, supposed to be something similar to that, but fitted for a 28mm tube (or 30mm? nobody knows) instead of a 25mm. The information I reported in this thread comes form one of the testers: he told about a removable "bridge" on the muzzle (such as on the XXV) to change from close to open version at your will. Still nothing official yet.

hey spaggetti,
wouldnt it be cool to be a "tester" for guns, i would sure like to apply for the job with the guys from C4, imagine all those monoscocca's and mr carbons at your disposal
thats like disney land

yeah, that would be my dream job too.

Murat: Kaiman's barrells. They will be 3 types: alluminium round barrel with integrated rail, carbon round with I.R., alluminium ellyptical with I.R.

That or grip is one sweet looking handle! When are these supposed to hit the market?

When? Presumably before Christmas worldwide, probably this month in Italy. it was scheduled to be in catalogue last week, but there must have been some kind of delay.

Hi Spaghetti, you should have taken up a career in industrial espionage eh eh Since the cat’s out of the bag here already here are a few more details since one of my privileges of working with Omer is having a say or two in the guns for the and their US specs.

Like all the upgrades we do No Charge here in America on our specked guns T-20 Millenium, Ocean Mimetic, Mimetic Med Carbon fiber guns (sharkfin shaft with rest tab, stainless steel line releases) the Cayman’s will be specked for the US market for 2007 with an extra more comfortable loading pad and they come stock with a SS line release.

The Excalibur was such a successful model around the world that it gave Omer plenty of time to reengineer a successor to the Excalibur series and improve it for all types of fishing, therefore suitable for multiple band heavy duty Oceanic conditions as well as fast competition style conditions with a single band. The real beauty of this gun will be not only an affordable price in the aluminum rail version, but the technical characteristics you can see in the chart below. As a big T-20 fan, I was very impressed to see Omer make the new trigger mechanism very sensitive even under heavy band loads (see chart). The mechanism is a very unique and the handle has a good anatomical shape to confirm very well to people’s hands. The other revelations are in the new barrels and a very impressive stiffness to weight ratio. Personally, I couldn’t believe the numbers on either the handle or the barrels….but here they are(see chart).

Take into account that our Cobra teak barrels are more than 46mm thick at the widest points comprised of 6 vertical laminations of teak. The new aluminum HF hydro formed barrels weigh less than half and are stiffer. Hydro-forming now is only used in the bicycle industry on high end bikes.

I hope to have a couple of our US Team Omer divers, Cameron Kirkconnell and Brandon Wahlers, using one before the end of the year.

Clarification: The Excalibur models will not be discontinued and neither of course will the
T-20's. The Excalibur is a great gun for the money that people like and they have no reason to get rid of it.

The text from the new catalog coming in December:

This speargun handle is new, featuring ergonomic and
mechanically innovative characteristics. The trigger
mechanism is highly sensitive and extremely resistant to high band load traction. When grabbing the handle, the position
of the hand is high in relation to the shaft, allowing quick
aiming and great absorption of recoil. The line release is
manufactured in die cast stainless steel and positioned on the
side, allowing it to be used also with a reel. The safety is also
positioned on the side and the reel guide is very slim allowing
the space between the reel and the barrel to be reduced to the
minimum. The Cayman handle features two chest protectors
in different dimensions (interchangeable) and two ergonomic
handles for both right handed and left handed (upon request).

Seriously Mark, thanks for your posts and please forgive me for spoiling the "secret". But those pics were already on line in forums here in Pizzaland...
