opinion on the best carbon fibre fins to buy

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
I use C4 Falcons, nice and narrow and excellent rails. I was disappointed with the fit (to the blade) of the supplied Spetton footpockets (I ended up grinding and using superglue!) and even more disappointed in the slight torsional twist (manufacturing error) on the blades. I did write about this some time back, no reply from the factory.

They work great through, and are well beaten up now.

If lost them tomorrow I would try the Merou's rather than C4's to avoid the risk of initial disappointment.
 
fisher fins have gotten a bit of a rap in AUtralia for breaking blades quite a common problem, otherwise not bad but not up to the level of Carbon fibre for performance.

Yeah I'm more towards using bi-fins for recreational diving, and my Ice fins are too stiff for me. I want something softer, so carbon seems to be a good option.

Anyway I heard back from the Merou guy, it's 220 euros to ship them to me! That's too much :(. Does anyone know of a cheaper option to get it to me?

When you first got the fins and I read about the twist it put me off C4 too. Knowing that they didn't replace fins with a fault isn't very reassuring. When you're paying that kind of money for fins you'd expect better.:ycard
 
i want the carbon as i push well past 30 meters with my fins and prefer them for competion and recreation,i just want a little more thrust on my turn around out of my dive back to the surface. i think with good style and form bi fins are just as good as any mono.i have a mono its nice but i just love the feel of bi-fins.

What? Is 220 euros the shipping cost only (!?), or is the blades+shipping?:duh

Anyway, re. cheaper option: Skorpio!
It's 160 euros+shipping for 100% carbon blades (regular 190 or broader 210 blades).

It's 220 for shipping only! But the guy is going to check for a cheaper option, hopefully he can find one. Even so, I might not get it, as they seem to be a bit long for spearing, the Skorpio looks more suitable. Can the Skorpios fit a regular Omer Millenium pocket, or only the Stingray or Mares Razor pocket?

Well it's a hell of a lot of money. Living in Singapore must be not only advantages...
Skorpio fits the regular Millennium afaik. Our forum member Nata is Skorpio's brand manager and will of course be able to help you.
Just bear in mind a very strange feature of italian commerce: buying from factory is sometimes more expensive than buying from retail shop.
The Scubazar shop price in the link I posted above is the cheapest in the world I've ever seen for a pair of 100% carbon blades. Scubazar shop website has english version too. (I'm not in business with any of the involved, just trying to give you some directions for a hopefully good deal). ;)
 
Alrighty Spags, thanks for all the wisdom yeah. I hope the shipping from Scubazar is not as crazy as from Merou then. I might get a few things if it's not.

I ended up buying the c4 mustang vgr 30's looking to try them out in a few weeks when they arrive
 
Stefano from Merou just informed me that they have found an option for couriering internationally for just €50. So the total price with postage would be €280.

guideon fins they are french brand, hand made fibreglass carbon composite. been around for a long time not sure how they compare to modern day performance blades though.

there is a website but i can never remember how i last found it.
