Just got word that the outlet is on and the fish are so thick you could walk on them!

Unfortunately, I'm so sick right now that I can't even think about jumping in the water- unless it's a hot bath!:crutch

Maybe some of you other die hards want to give it a shot and I'll try to get healthy enough to dive by next weekend.

Jon

How do you get to the Outlet? Is it right off of John Nolan drive? I might check it out tomorrow morning. Try out my new Elios ;)

Check out some of the other threads for specific directions. You enter off of BB Clark Beach on the north side of Lake Monona. It's on the ithsmus off of Jennifer street.

I really wish I could go but I might cough up a lung right now. :(

I'm thinking about hitting the outlet around 10 or so tomorrow morning, I was there about three hours ago ( not in the water), and saw at least 100 or so carp and the visibility was 5 to 10 feet. Too bad you're too sick to make it Jon, this is the best I've ever seen it at the outlet.
Later,

Brian

There's a good chance of panfish too, i guess I was looking at the obvious, but I did notice some big muskies though.

Hey,

Let us know what you saw & how you did. If the outlet is going gang busters with carp, we may want to change the Carp-Spear-O-Rama to here.

Let me know your thoughts.

The one concern I have is safety & limited space. Obviously, the outlet would draw us all together into a tighter group (more fish close to the outlet). I definately don't want anyone getting hurt.

Gene

I didn't get out, because I am still sick, but I've found that as soon as you shoot that first fish the carp tend to spread out and duck for cover. I think it might be worth while to change locations in the fish are still there.

Jon

Going to the try the Outlet tomorrow around 10am- Anyone interested I'll be there till I can't be there no more :) Unless I can't see, then I won't stay.

Scott,

Please post on how the visability is & how many carp you got...from Jon's photos on the April Carp-Spear-O-Rama forum, it looks like it should be good.

Thanks,

Gene

Here's some pics of the OUTLET on 4-19-07. Vis wasn't that great- but was still fun to get out there and shoot a few carp! Vis was 2-5'.

Was in Madison visiting some jobs today (bidding on Solar Hot Water heaters!!!) Anyway, went to the outlet & all I can say is WOW!

Huge Carp, Huge Musky...WOW!!! Wish I had my spear & suit. Jon, being so close, how can you stay away? I think I would be down there every chance the water was on.

Nice pics Gene! I was planning on going down there today but the "honey do list" got too big and took me too long to get done- I may go down there tomorrow or maybe go to Lawrence Lake and take pics. Man- seeing how calm it was today makes me wish I had gone today! oh well!

Hey Gene,

I was actually in Milwaukee the past two days doing a dive job- had to scrub the hull on the Lake express car ferry. I had a whole 3' of vis the first night, we had to work at night so as not to interfere with their boat schedule, but had to get out due to an electrical storm! I got back in early the next day to find that vis had dropped down to an astounding 6".rofl

The water did feel fairly warm. I know that I was in a drysuit, but I just had some old 5mm gloves on and my fingers never got cold. I think it was the first time I had a tank on, for diving, in about a year. rofl

Here's a few shots I took of the storm, and a couple pics of me working the shallow end of the job- where you could actually see me in the water. ;)

The trick is to put the camera in video mode and take a still from it. rofl

It was pretty wild out on the lake while we were coming back to dock. It started to rain on us as soon as i got into my car and by time I got on the freeway the hail had started- made for a long drive home.:head

Took another ride around the lake today and the outlet is off- which means the fish are gone. They were all over yesterday, but they have moved on. The water is a bit green, but it must be clearer further out from shore.

Jon

Too bad there isn't a way to know when the outlet is on & when it is off without going to it. Is the power plant on the internet? Does anyone know someone who works at the plant we could ask?

Gene

Went to the OUTLET this morning till about noon. Vis was AWESOME!!! I'm guessing it was about 14-16'. There were a Ton of Panfish, alot of Bass even 1 HOG of a Bass, alot of Muskies, Carp and 1 Sturgeon about 6' in length. I ended up shooting about 10 carp- but only got 2 on my stringer. Alot of the other carp- I shot too high and they got away.

Those Darn Muskies! I don't know if they do this with everyone- but they won't leave me alone- They follow me everywhere. My father-in-law brought up a good point- he said my wet suit has stripes like a muskie and he thought they probably think I'm a big dumb muskie. They would come up from behind me and just sit next to my head. Kinda Freaky. I still had a Blast! I even saw a "Gene" spotting ;) I will post more pics.
