saudi woman beheaded for witchcraft

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
ahh why do i always get dragged into this kinda stuff..

responses to your points.
- i've not complained about the US helping out, i think its positive it the superiority complax that the rest of the world would be f**ked if the US didnt exist that i struggle with
- i didnt make any comment regarding the US starting anything in afghanistan not in any of my post unless i missed rereading something....
- again not critical of the US stepping in only critical when they feel the NEED to step in when the people of said country arent asking for help

based on the below meaning of the word barbarian it would be quite easy to group all of us in the same class, American, Australian, Russian etc.

The [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxford_English_Dictionary"]Oxford English Dictionary - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame] defines five meanings of the noun barbarian.

  • 1. etymologically, A foreigner, one whose language and customs differ from the speaker's.
  • 2. Hist. a. One not a Greek. b. One living outside the pale of the Roman empire and its civilization, applied especially to the northern nations that overthrew them. c. One outside the pale of Christian civilization. d. With the Italians of the Renascence: One of a nation outside of Italy.
  • 3. A rude, wild, uncivilized person. b. Sometimes distinguished from savage (perh. with a glance at 2). c. Applied by the Chinese contemptuously to foreigners.
  • 4. An uncultured person, or one who has no sympathy with literary culture.
like i said i'm done just wanted to clarify that i didnt blame the USA for afganhistan on this forum ( i have my own personal views on that matter but thats another story) i'm not pro Islam or christianity or anything like that, i'm pro HUMANITY for everyone, no one culture should or has the right to stand above others.

Well, what can I say, a passionate exchange. :D

You know maybe I'm just acting like an ungrateful kid towards his parent when I say I'm not supportive of my countries' actions. All I'm saying that I am more attached to principles and people than to concepts and believes.

I find it tragic when I point out a few things about a company that is ruling over people, that these people get up in arms to defend the entity that is controlling them and others. It's like when I say Nike should offer their people producing shoes better working conditions not only the Nike owner and buyers but also the workers get worked up and saying how dare you criticise Nike!

LOL, I just noticed how the last line fits the Nike analogy in a funny way :D

And really I love much of your constitutionally recognised rights very much. We subjects here are not allowed arms, and have NO RIGHTS, only privileges in The Royal Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Maybe it's a comfort as most people in the world understand very well the difference between what a counties government does and how it's peoples are. In other words people by and large do not blame Americans personally. Yes I know that does not often get through the national media, but it does come out in alternative media and through personal talks I have here with people from for instance the middle east. For them this is actually the norm, since their own leadership is hardly ever serving the people.

And Yes I call physical punishments and capital punishment barbaric (a fashionable term thanks to the Romans name calling foreigners), backwards etc.
Actually I think the prison system could use some lessons from psychology and be modernised, like I think Norway has partially done.

Come on everyone - this is a diving forum and this sort of discussions ALWAYS ends up in tears and a locked thread.

This one is heading that way - please keep it civil...besides it's Christmas!

Just for the record: the US did not invent RADAR. They were one of the many countries to be independently involved in it's development and evolution. The British were the first to develop a practical aircraft detecting RADAR system.

I guess the US also captured the German Enigma encryption machine?

I was intentionally keeping out of this debate as, although I have my views, I feel my knowledge of this area is somewhat limited, but there are some errors I can't let pass.

Jesus... (Allah / Buddha whatever deity that can be used to express frustration...)

How can anyone argue with you Jtkwest??? Your posts are so sporadic that this whole thread just reads as one huge rant...

Every post you make has no continuum to previous posts. You engage all the other readers to argue a point... then you come back on board, fail to defend the original point and invent a load of new points to argue... then a few hours later you invent a few more... This thread will never end because you appear to not understanding how to argue... (or maybe this is your exact purpose?)

I mean you started with saudi and beheadings, then introduced a load of unsubstantiated commentary and opinion pieces and are finishing up with we would all be speaking German if the US had not "helped out"....

I'm not sure exactly what this thread is or what your intentions were when you started it, but this thread is far from a discussion of fact...

it seems you have missed the point.
I think for most of us, perhaps we have... could you refresh it for us??
What exactly is your point?

I am sick of all the constant criticism of our poilicies.
I presume you are meaning the rest of the world in general, and not just deeperblue? If so... chill out... and don't take out your pent up aggression here! We only came here to talk about the OP... the beheadings in saudi and the media representation of them. US foreign and domestic policy has nothing to do with that.

And this is the very reason an argument with you is futile

I love this discussion, its really very interesting to me, the middle east is a fascinating paradox in so many ways and I feel strongly about it. I think you do too, but I'm afraid your writing style is very poorly thought out and I hate to say it, but you are just coming across as ignorant and a racist. This is not an insult... I do not know you and I am not saying you are these things, I just think its a shame that this is how your posts may be construed.
I.e. if you just spent a little more time constructing your arguments, and reading - and rereading your posts and referencing legitimate sources of your information then I feel we could have a really nice discussion here.

But that is not happening.
