Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 90 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.

OK guys- I think we should try ROCK LAKE. We will meet at the northend boat launch and determine if it's where we want to go or if the vis isn't good enough- then we'll swing down to Lake Geneva. Here's a link to a map.

Web browser and Live Maps are incompatible (we'd be meeting at the "B" on the map- Parking is across the road- but stop by the launch to unload your gear.)

Yes, dotey- you can drive, we all know you want to drive- you can drive, we want you drive- stop asking. :D

HOPE to see you all there!

Dotey, thanks for offering but i'm going to end up driving myself. I'm spending the weekend in Westfield helping out with a youth duck hunt, and will meet you guys at Rock Lake. What time will we meet?

One more week!! Sweet! Pool for me tomorrow, hopefully I can work on some things to help me in open water.

Then home to put in some drain tile to help prevent some of my flooding issues.

Well most of the central boys are going to probably have football practice that day. We usually have practice on saturday, but this week there will be a game saturday night, so we will most likely have practice on sunday. I will have to check the schedule. We would all love to come down and shoot some fish with you guys (FINALLY!) But most of us are really busy what with football, school, and jobs. Ill talk with winks, waldo, Baum, and Fargus64, to see if they are interested. All the lakes around here have officially gone to crap and beyond.

Well, I'm at Wreckrunner's house. It's 9:30 and he made me go to bed already! So I found an unsecure network to latch on to the interwebs to see what I can see.

We are going to the Yacht Club in Milwaulkee right Scott? :)

Wreck and I did some pool diving today. I still need some work on my clearing and on my relaxation while diving.

But it is about the fish tomorrow. See ya'll there!

The Duckinator (who I shall call 'Duck') you didn't miss much- other than camaraderie and some laughs. The vis was bad- maybe 5' in the good areas. I was able to get 2 carp and 1 bluegill. Dotey shot a small Gar- and that was about it. I saw lots of fish- but alot of small ones- I saw a few more carp, but either I wasn't ready to shoot or I didn't see them in time. I pretty much was shooting from the hip. Water temp was 68. I think the lake has potential- but just not clear enough to go back. We had 6 people there today: Me, Tass, Jon, Dotey, ILDiver & Wreckrunner. Still had a good time and it's always great to be in the water.

I dove them about 20 years ago, on scuba, and wasn't too impressed. They look like rock bars that come up out of the muck on the bottom. I talked to the Archeology profs at UW Milwaukee, when I was going to school there, and thy laughed them off. I've read a book, or two, about them and know that some people get really worked up over them, but the Phd's weren't too impressed.

The lake can be good and I have gottne some big carp, and crappies, out of her in the past- it just seems that the vis is crap everywhere around here lately.

Jon

Tass, your lucky I did not lock in and square up on that RNC!! It was good that no one got shot at, I guess that makes the day a success. The 20' dives with low vis actually showed me a little more of where my technique is when I'm not thinking about the dive and just "doing it". I take the easy way and valsalva rather than positioning properly and doing a Frenzel. Just means one thing....need more practice.

I think I'm going to look for a new mask. My next mask will have integrated computer and a FLIR and Thermal imaging. Not sure how well the Thermal will work with the fish, but I'll be able to see my dive buddy!
