In again last night same spot as Monday night! Cheers spearolee
Better viz but using my less powerful back up torch as the D06 has gone back for repair
In 1 hour before high tide much easier conditions and much more enjoyable. Took 3 bass in shallow, missed two others of decent size 4-5lb, rushing the shot.
Rather than before where I walked back along the beach, headed out over the reef in about 10 -15 feet of water, saw 2 between gullies so down and took them, as I came back into the shallows viz slightly worsened and bumped into a very decent flounder, unfortunately he wasn't hanging around.
By this time cold and knowing I had 40 minute drive + up at 5am, time to head for home. -3 temp on the car, so southern softy drove home in me smelly wet suit.
Biggest 5.1lb

Hi Guys I am moving to Torbay from the NE in march to live and will be really keen to hook up with local spearos, I dive & spear loads up here, altho mostly for crabs & lobbies which there are an abundance of, altho its always Fecking cold so looking forward to some warmer/clearer waters and longer seasons.. are there regular meets/clubs?

I checked web cams earlier exmouth to blackpool sands choppy - bigbury big swell coming in - you may be lucky and find a sheltered spot but S/SE will make it tricky.

Same this end too..We called off tonight :(

Just got into my suit, loading the car now..! Was planing to head to bigbury and give it a go unless anyone can suggest a better spot? Just thought challobrough side or estuary side would give a bit if choice but a big swell sounds bad?

If anyone wants a lift from Plymouth I can happily detour!

3 rash vests and a 5mm suit... Let's hope it's not too cold...!

Well an interesting trip last night...

Arrived bigbury and saw the swell mentioned ripping through, checked the usual sheltered spots and viz looked poor to aweful...! Not feeling confident for my first night dive I opted to go for a short dip and was suprised to find some bars of silver but too fast to shoot in virtually zero viz.

I did speak to some fishermen who were pulling in a few schoolies bass on lugworm too so I wasn't dreaming!

Thanks to all for the advice and help WRT getting my first night dive in! It really is another world and quite intimidating!

Sometimes when it looks like there is no vis....There really is no vis. Alan and myself still haven't learnt this lesson and thus often spend a cold windy night driving around the coast line looking for vis on the harshest southwest gales! We usually end up getting in with 1m of viz. If it's like this you really have to slow everything down to a snail pace and buddy up side by side shoulder to shoulder. If you make any sudden movement the bass will pick up the vibration and be long gone before you spot them. And I mean a snail pace! Literally we just use a slight ankle movement to fin along the surface in less than 1m of water (so we can see the bottom)

Hi there,
Post something on the forum when you're down, I'm sure it won't be long before you get to buddy up with someone. Not aware of any local clubs but there area a good few active spearos down here.
Good luck with the move.

Just geared a 15lb bass was caught in the sound the other day... So I'm going fishing off rubble jetty tomorrow night with my new rod!!! Can't wait. Apparently they are only taking live bait though...!

Had a few lately but all on lures (SP) 4 of them last week over 5kg. I have one on film from the casting of the lure to the landing of it.
To much info in the background to show!!
