Yes mate checked in with coast watch who gave pretty good conditions seeing there was a slight easterly.
Thanks for your info will use it wisely, let you know when I'm on your patch.
Cheers lee

Hi , what boat and motor have you got ? I have a 2.8 metre with a 6hp and it is fine for a few miles ( if calm ) I might be out and around Torbay tomorrow .

First little shoal of bass for me this year at beesands. Took one but vis was poor so didn't get the best selection and didn't see them again. Vis is only 2-3m in start bay at high tide. Apparently west side is much better

Nice. I was over near East Prawle today, didn't spear but had a swim. viz still 10m+ on that side.

3rd Annual Member Meet in the UK will be held in Guernsey (Channel Islands) again between 8th – 10th
We still have room for a few more members to join in the fun.
The spearfishing competition entry is full as we limit the number to 20 divers, however there are still opportunity's to free dive with Apneaboy who will be running a two day freediving course.
Of course you can just come on over & join in the evening entertainment, go you own way spearfishing around our coast & still have time to watch the daily weigh ins !
Come on over and dive our legendary waters where so many British records have been caught... both diving or fishing... you will be welcome.
For more details and sign on info visit here http://forums.deeperblue.com/threads/deeperblue-com-announce-2014-uk-member-meet.99332/

Thinking of going spearing at Babbacombe this afternoon if anyone is interested. Any update on vis?

Sorry mate bit late reply. Can't access the link to babbacombe beach so unable to see but I'm just back from a swim at teignmouth, fairly choppy, weedy and difficult swimming conditions. Daddyhole plain & Corbyn head web cams both look pretty calm. Unable to update you on viz mate. Babbacombe did look pretty good on web cam yesterday.

No worries. Went for a quick session as I was in the babbacombe area. Was pretty calm, but poor vis. 2-3 maximum. Missed a good size pollock. Will try somewhere else tomorrow. Cheers

Not sure there will be much viz this way. Good viz to be had on thurlestone side of the south hams, don't know how well you know you areas? Brixham dive shack saying max of 2m at the mo

South of Dartmouth for the weekend night dive planned Friday night anyone wanting to join me send me a pm

Dived a new spot in Plymouth Sunday night and returned there tonight. Generally pretty good vis, 4 meters and more in some places. Lots of life around, great dive and scenery but no bloody silvers. Had yet another unsuccesful flattie hunt and all crabs seen too small. Still a pleasure to be out though.

Am I the only day walker left in south devon. All I keep reading is night this and night that. Perhaps I should buy a torch because it appears I'm missing something. Am I ?

Dave. I work mainly lates, nights so seems normal to me to be out and about after dark. Just got in now from late shift. I do miss diving in the daytime and normally returned home with something but I get so much satisfaction seeing my family and friends eating mainly bass on a regular basis, keeps me going out after dark. Also it is like a drug, when the bass light up in the beam. L

I do find it quite a 'zen' experience being in at night. Nice to observe the environment at a different time of day. I've not mastered it yet or had the results that Lee gets but I'm beginning to see how it's done.

I got in on Tuesday morning at sunrise in the East Prawle area, viz around 5-6m. Saw no bass but more Mullet than I've seen in any dive this year. Looks like they've arrived for sure. I just didn't get a clean shot on any of them! Always off to my side or out of range, couldn't get the gun round in time. Next time fishys, next time...

I'm still firmly in the day camp, any evening dives I do are when there is still light in the sky. Will do a night dive soon enough as have the torch and am curious about the experience more than anything. That and it gives the wife less opportunity to moan if I'm out when everyone's in bed!! May be pushed further towards night diving through running out of time to fit everything else in. The one thing I do know is that whether day or night - I WILL dive

I dive during the day but still can't find any decent fish if in a month or so I'm still not getting anything I may have to buy some torches!
