Mr Foxfish ... collecting razors by digging probably is more productive , but can only be done on spring lows and then for a short period , although perhaps your big tides provide greater opportunity , however the way I collect them and I think what Halfandy is doing is getting them whilst diving , so they can be obtained anytime , although more can be had more quickly and easily around low tide , in depths typically about 3-5 metres , It is not highly productive but 30- 40 per hour is achievable , the salt does not kill them and I keep them in a net sack in the water until returning home and they stay alive until cooked ( not always the same day ) in some of the areas I know of they have been "fished out" in the areas where they can be dug by fishermen for bait ..It is quite an interesting and enjoyable method of fishing and is good breath hold training as well , and just another method of the many ways there is of obtaining fresh sea food !!! also low impact on what I am pretty sure are sustainable stocks locally if your not too greedy !! Most of the ones I obtain are about 8" in length...which is about as as big as they get I believe .

Vis was ok ish 2-4m. That hideous algae bloom seems to have finished for good. Not much life about. After an hour or so I'd given up and was swimming back when I saw a school of very small (hand size) bass. I watched them darting about for a bit, and noticed some bigger ones on the periphery. Keeping still the bigger fish came even closer until I saw a legal sized one and then woohoo! My first bass of the year, and just in time for the ban lift.

No he will not !! he will still be in jail for catching Bass before he is allowed to , the ban is not lifted until the END of June! !!! ( wanted to put a smiley face here but do not know how to do it !? )Sound good, looks like you can show me how to spear bass too

Hello one and all.
I recently started reading again the UK threads on DB after far too long away, and it soon became apparent that was my loss.
Like many I neglected this forum. Caused initially by the endless chest beating of the 'nite spearing' debate of some time ago and a lean by myself towards FB groups. It would seem that the more rational/knowledgeable are all still here, which is great to see even if posts appear far lower which, is a shame.
However, what is undeniable is the amount of help/updates still willingly being given out by the regulars on here, which is not common across other social media sites. Long may it continue.
I look forward to hopefully being more pro-active again on DB over the coming season.

Even though it was a miserable morning, half of Team CRAP Spearfishing Club took a trip to our local lobster spot. Diving on a dropping tide, we were greeted with 8-10m viz. We hunted the gullies without luck until I dropped down about 4m and peeked under a ledge to be greeted with a massive pair of claws. I got my buddy to assist as it was an awkward spot. I distracted the lobbie while Rowan snuck in from behind and grabbed him. He just about fit in the bag. I bumped into a 10lb bass while coming out from under a ledge, so the big ones are coming in. Roll on the end of the month! Total haul for the day was two lobsters and a spider crab.
