I wish, the weather will improve by next weekend.
I went past meadfoot yesterday looked OK (ish), some swell but dive able.
HI ALL now you may not know this but a young spearo by the name of spearomatt won the first round of british spearfishing champs (junior sect) on the 28th april at bognor. This is a great start for a new up and comming spearo, the first time matt had ever fished this area .Well done matt this is going to be your year mate,there must be local good spearo's out there so come join us at the EXE SPEARFISHING CLUB DIVES this summer DAVE O
Hmmm close in looked like a few feet but further out 2/3 meters maybe.
The wind goes west soon so the viz will improve.
Dave,o the dive was tough ,hanging on to my flout for my life rofl but still it was a fun day and coming back in pete's flooding boat
Which Dave was very kind to put my fins and weight belt in his carrofl, doesn't matter, i will be reunited with them on the 20th. thanks

It was just a congratulations post. I'm sorry if it sounded like something different because it's just my way to say "congratulations spearomatt".Of course it is just a first step for him, and he'll have to work hard to improve his skills more and more. But for today I want to share the happiness for his success, just like everybody on this board.

yep I think spearomatts in for a good year I take it you going to thurlstone then Matt ?

Thats down to my boss giving me the friday off for the thurlstone comp but fingers crossed. Im only going to do the one comp this year so i've chosen thurlstone as Ive already seen the spot and it looks great!!!
Dear All,
I would like to make further comment regarding “Spearomatt” and his success at the first national competition at Bognor a few weeks ago. Apologise's Matt for talking about you, but I do feel that we need to get a few things clear and in perspective.
Firstly, as has already been stated by “Aqua Eric” the conditions at the competition were challenging. The tide was running for most of the day with a choppy sea and restricted visibility. Additionally, he was diving a completely unknown dive area with lots of other divers close by, which was a new experience for Matt. To make things worse Matt lost his gun in the poor visibility and spent 45 minutes looking for it before he could continue hunting again. Considering all of these challenges, catching 5 fish was a fine effort in it’s self. Many established divers blanked including me!
My second point is that Matt is 15 years old; I assume self taught and has demonstrated on several occasions that he has a natural ability to dive (11m+ - 1min 20sec bottom time) already and has a good fish sense. Finding a junior diver who has a natural talent is extremely rare in this country so you can see why people are getting excited with Matt’s good but modest success at the Nationals. That said he has done nothing yet and needs a great deal of guidance and the opportunities’ to dive different areas and conditions over the coming years (needs transport from other divers). I know Matt will be the first to question what all of the fuss is about.
Something we have in abundance in this country is experienced divers who could take this young man under their wing (fin). My point is that Matt needs a helping hand through his apprenticeship and I am sure he would appreciate the odd spearfishing trip out to new dive areas other than the famous Oddicombe! Finally, we should let Matt enjoy his spearfishing and not put him under to much pressure in terms of competitions and results etc.

Thought I would try a different spot today as the weather is crap.Gave broadsands a go but the sea was brown so moved over to brixham near the swimming pool but the current was moving so damn fast and the viz was near nothing so I didnt bother. Any1 ever dive blackpoolsands or around Dartmouth? I was having a look at the map and there seem to be a few possible spots
