oh right, i have been 4 times this week and have not seen a single bass or mullet.
do you know if you get scollops in brighton or surrounding area or are they localsised to certain places or parts of the country.

Tried Thurlstone this morning on a mega high tide. Very quiet, only three bass seen, one having a narrow escape from the only shot taken. Found my large white starfish again after nearly two months since I last dived there. Only ever see one when I go there.

A few pollack around, too small, sandeels, minnow sized mackerel not many wrasse. Viz was up to 10m in places, down to 1m inshore due to the mega hight tide picking up desicated seaweed from the shoreline that's normally left high and dry.

Just kept it to 2hrs and came back to watch the rugby. I remember the days when I used to play some crummy rugby game on my dad's pc and I'd always play against Argentina 'cos they were rubbish. How things change!

speaking as a hungover ulsterman in mourning that is cruel. very cruel but true.
I wonder if ireland want a 46year retired prop with a titanium reinforced neck??

Back from Maldives today, and by popular requests, I will not mention how UTTERLY FANTASTIC it was. Nor will I mention 28 degree water. Or Mantas, sharks barracuda, tuna, marlin, etc.

Hope that keeps tribs happy.

Can anybody here get anything on the Babbacombe webcam? Just wondering whether its stopped working or if it's my computer playing up?
(I wanted to check conditions with a view to heading that way tomorrow)

i have tried to look at that webcam quite a few times and have only ever been able to get on it on my laptop and any other computer i try it on it does not work.
your not the only one spider man.

Welcome back GeeBee

Dived Watcombe and Oddicombe yesterday. Vis varied from 1-3m and water temperature has dropped down to 15 degrees. No fish to spear - just small pollack, big wrasse and a dogfish. Spent most of my time messing about with the camera trying to film wrasse which in poor vis was a bit of a waste of time. Got a couple of closeups of dead man's fingers and such like to add to my album.

Hi

I'm new to this forum..great to see people sharing their information..

I went in today at bigbury as well as hope cove hoping for a bass

vis very poor at bigbury even though it was flat. was my first time in at hope cove and vis was better (still not great) but only saw two big mullet. i swam around from the first outer hope beach to inner cope around the headland.

planning to go in again in the next few days. anyone have any ideas on where i might be able to get a flattie?

hey shootingstaruk welcome to deeperblue, i dont live around that area so cant really help you but theres lots of people on here that i am sure will be willing to help.

Bigbury can be a bit hit and miss with the viz cause of the swell. Give thurlestone a go as its shelted in spots and the viz can be amazing. If you dive at low tide you should be able to find the wreck and theres often pollack lurking around there. Good luck and welcome the forums

fishing yes but as the swell breaks over the bar the vis is awful. wade around in the shallows with a trident. you may not get anything but the sunbathers will be dead impressed!!! HA Ha
was in at bantham yesterday and had a look round to the left. for some reason the bass decided to come from behind all day so only got off a couple of poor shots as they retreated into the murk.
Saw a monster lobbie but the hole was deep and i had no torch so left him to fight another day. Maybe next time I'll bring my camera as my wife doesnt believe me.

Hi geeBee

Tribs here, nice pics but you don't half look different wearing that white dress mate!

I take it from the reports of late that the mini scare of people stating that the grey fish seeming to disappear has abbated? Where's hot and where's not?

Spiderman, how's sidmouth lately?

Thanks for the advice everybody

I gave hopes nose a go today but unfortunately there was a little bit of a swell and the vis near the beach was terrible.

Took a fishing rod down with me as a back up plan.. but unfortunately for once there were not even any mackerel around to keep me entertained.

It was a long & slow hike back up the hill with all my stuff!

I have been in with scuba gear on the Thurlestone wreck and may have a chance to head back there with a gun in the next few days. However I thought most of the bass hang out near the big rock at the other end of the bay?

BTW did anyone read about the gill net at Whitsand Bay in SE cornwall..not good..see this link this is devon - news, entertainment, jobs, homes and cars

Pretty poor I think. Vis tends to drop off completely as soon as there is a hint of an east wind so I have headed for Torbay the last couple of times I have been in as it seems to cope a little better with light easterlies.
