South Devon report 2007

Had this happen during a frustrating 3 hours at Bantham last week. loads of good size bass but missed or bounced off them all. noticed my new line had a bigger loop than usual,(iff to small the loop jams the spear in the mechanism) it looks as though the loop was catching the muzzle on the way through reducing power and deflecting it as well.
Gave up and went lobbie spotting instead

no spearing for me this weekend, paris beckons. told the wife we were going to disneyland but a detour may be needed!!!!roflroflrofl:naughty:friday

Hi Doc

What part of bantham do you go. Ive been thinking about doing the rocks to the left and then diving towards the golf course

use the rip on the left just in front of the lifeguard station to get out and around the point. often bass at the end waiting for the crabs etc to be spat out and be gobbled up. often the surfers tell me about bass lurking just beyond the break. just time it to avoid the swim in or come in by climbing over the rocks.
I always give the lifeguard an idea how long I'll be then a wave when I'm back. nice car park for changing in and public loo's

thanks doc. might take the kayak with and anchor up behind the breakwater cheers for the info.

Dived Oddicombe yesterday. More swell than I expected which messed up vis just about everywhere except right by the cliffs. Only shots taken were with the camera. I used the gun to anchor my float and went looking for crabs but they were all just short of legal size - though not short of aggresion (was glad my gloves have kevlar on the fingers)

Hi all

Viz was obviously crap for the australian touch judge during the final as he couldn't see a clear try from 3 Tv screens but does anyone know where an easterly won't have made south devon waters dirty because i'm struggling to think of one apart from inside a breakwater perhaps? Did someone say the harbour master at Brixham gets funny about spearos?

The try was out Tribs :t and the harbour master goes ape shit about people going swimming in his harbour so I can only imagine what he will do about spearos :martial

I went down paignton harbour yesterday to have a look and the viz in fairy cove was actually good but dont know about now.

Dived today.
Almost didn't get in after looking at the sea and a light east wind blowing.
Viz was 2/3 meters which was better than i was expecting.

Total catch.

1 bass and 5 mullet one mullet missing in the pic, i gave one away at the beach.

Hi Neale and welcome.

You weren't by chance out by yourself this summer down sidmouth way in a small grey rib just of little pickets rock when you were approached by a fisherman warning you about a net? You look strikingly familiar tis all.
