Fins is you are looking for a cheap powerful fin then these will do the job imersion aluminite clicka bit stiff for me and the foot pockets are tough unlike my new gara 3000ld.

As you are a bit bigger than me a pair of stiffer gara 2000hf might suit you as the gara 3000ld are for long distance.gara fins

Don't go for carbon fins as they are a bit over the top for us shallow water spearos.

Well the sea looks to murky even for me so i will give it a miss today.

I bought myself a zodiac rib which needs a fair bit of love and attention.will buy a motor later on when I can afford it . I have decided on a 4hp. Will post a picture as soon as the site lets me.

Should be up and running for the summer so hopes nose will only be a boat ride away hip hip hooray

Hi, we're planning to head down to E. Devon late Easter, (spearing, kayaking, fishing, walking,...). What is the situation with beaches/fishing with regard to the Napoli / Branscombe?
[Last I heard, a few more containers had fallen in, dumping packets of biscuits into the sea...hmmm biscuits]

Hi MrX sorry it’s taken me so long to reply but I’ve not been in the mood for posting on the forum. Think my knackered knee has got me down a bit, still I’m up and getting around now.

As for the Napoli and Branscombe, I think they are keeping well on top of it and clearing the beaches as new stuff is washed up.

I have a free week starting the 5th March which as long as my knee will let me, intend to spend spearing and kayaking, so hopefully will be able to give you a proper report then.

Did manage to get down to Portland (Yes I know it’s Dorset and this is a Devon thred) for a look around last Sunday and Chesil Cove looked a right mess and amongst it found a large Triggerfish. Lets hope there's some alive ones swimming about this summer.

Wow 24 hours on a coach is not fun but the skiing was apart from a sore coccxy bone from snow boarding.
Has anyone got in over the week ,i cant wait to get back in the water.

Thanks for the update Allan. We visited the Dorset coast too, yesterday as a matter of fact, mainly for some fresh air. Conditions were not fit for spearing - as expected. Visited Studland & Tilly Whim (Durlston head).

Hi Spearheads. For Easter, I was planning to be around Abbotsbury/WestBay - Exmouth area (Lyme Bay). We might venture a little further down. If conditions are good though, we'll stay around Lyme Bay...to maximize fishing & beach time.

However, the plan for early Summer is to venture deeper into Devon. Torbay & possibly further south. Haven't booked this yet, if you know of any cottages (or pos. B&Bs) or good websites, please PM me.

well the wind has turned west for a few days and the sea has been calm ,so i'm going to go in for a dip tomorrow for an hour or two. The viz from the cliffs looking over the beach looked good i could see the edges of the reefs.
who will be the first to spear a bass this year:t .

Sorry to go back on what I said but I’m not going to make it down today.

My knee is aching for England is morning :head and if I’m honest with my self I not ready to get back in the water, I still have the week free next week so I’m going to get some physio for it today and focus on getting in next week.

Once again I’m sorry for saying one thing and doing another, I do not like people that do it, and I’m not too pleased with my self at the moment.:rcard

Well i got in for an hour and its was freezing my face was not happy. As for the viz it was around 2/3 meters.
Saw one wrasse and one scallop not realy worth the effort of getting in.
Still im going to try this sunday if it stays calm.

Ah February - when I used to surf regularly February and March were the months when we used to get the waves virtually to ourselves!

The main reason i got in was to try out my new weight system , I'm now wearing 4 kg on the belt 2kg on the shoulders 1kg on on each side of the ribs and 500grams on each ankle.
It is far better spreading the weight around the body than just on the hips , and those ankle weights keep those legs down.

At least you got in mate, i'm just holding off till the suit gets here, then i'll be looking to jump in around eastertime, i walked down to one of my dive spots today and there were waves crashing, brown water and a gale blowing! And this is what it looks like in the summer...


Anyway like i said at least you got a little dive, and who knows the bass may be there on sunday . Someone has to be the first to see some right?

Hi to all the guys on this thread-I live in exeter and this will be my first season spearfishing! I would just like to say that reading all your posts and watching spearheads fantastic underwater pics have really got me excited about my newly chosen hobby and I can't wait to get in-after the new suit arrive that is!
This is a great forum and I look forward to being part of it and maybe meeting up with one one or two of you out there this summer. If you see a tall bloke with a spear through his foot it will probably be me!
