Hello northcoasters. Is the viz clearing up at all with the falt surf at the mo'. Coombesgate looked really nice on eyeball surf webcam today.

My new gun arrived today a Seatec - Gabbiano, very strange design compared to my omer guns also the barrel i huge, Can wait to try it at the weekend.

7 mill that sounds toasty.

I was thinking that myself! The last few surfs I've had (last weekend saw about the last of the swell), I've noticed that I can see my legs again under the water! (but not my feet). So yes it seems to be clearing.

Reckon I'll take a look over the easter break.

You may know? , but there is a wreck of a world war bomber close to coombesgate. I don't usually hunt over that way (although I have been in on this stretch) , and have not seen it myself.

You never told us you were going for a gabbiano!!! I have it and i seriously love it! What length did you go for?? I guess you wont have realised yet, but when the bands are in position, the line of sight is amazing! Let us know how it goes!

It was a quick decision i wanted a new gun for the season, i almost went for the mamba but i didn't in the end.
Size 90, i almost got a shorter gun for hole fishing but i have a short 75 omer dragon that does the job, as you dont need accuracy when that close.

I noticed how the rubbers were positioned ,very clear line of sight, got to get used to the loading because you wrap the line over the spear.

I'm guessing the tracking is great because of the barrel shape.

I have a 77 Gabby Spearheads. Love it. Did you get the open muzzle?

I do sometimes miss having a closed muzzle on a shorter gun as it would allow poking around caves/holes to be a bit easier (sometimes the spear falls off/out of the open muzzle). It would be useful for inverted stalking!

Can't decide between a 90 Gabby or maybe a Seatec Albatross at 90 or 100. Pricey but looks the biz

The loading is a bit slower but I'm sure performance will make up for it.

You'll get used to the loading and find after a while that it's actually quicker,i reckon anyway,i've got the 90.

Dog FISH : Now ive seen a fair few in the bay and even shot one in the start of last summer. Do you guys agree with hunting dog fish or does it fall into the same class as Wrasse. and yes I do intend to eat what I kill. apparently if cooked properly they are loverly

To right they do cut thin and flash fried in red hot garlic butter.

Its not difficult to shoot them but if you enjoy eating them i see nothing wrong with it.
Rock salmon in the chip shops i think.

ive got a 100 and 77 gabbi i find 100 a bit of a hand full and the 77 perfect ,really well made bits of kit! my mate makes dogfish fish cakes which he says are nice. o went out lamping last night got myself a nice little rabbit of the pot now that was nice.

any1 go in this morning. Just been down the beach and tempted to go in around 16:30

I got into day, viz was terrible 1meter sometimes a few cm, nice and warm.
Dived at oddicombe a few wrasse and pollock seen and 4 undersized crabs but 2 nice sized ones that i couldn't reach.

The gabby is great the balance is amazing compared to my Excalibur, the nose is a bit light so might put a little bit of weight on it, 10/10

I read some articles on Hawaiian spearfishing & they generally use open muzzles -- often fitting aftermarket Hammerhead muzzles to euroguns & railguns. I contacted the Rob Allen Divefactory about it and they'd tried it but did not recommend it.

Don't get caught you can only shoot on private land with the owners permission or you go prison long time and you won

Fortunately the prisons are full. Unfortunately, they'd happily free paedophiles & muggers in order to accomodate "an easy collar" and the retired vicar that refused to pay his above inflation council tax increase.

I'm not to sure Mr x, i think the main reason is you get a better view of the shaft,more accuracy.
I had a few moments today when the spear dropped off before i had wrapped the line over the spear to hold it in place.
I prefer open muzzle to closed now because of the clear line of sight.
