jez the breakwater is great, you need a boat to get to it or a kayak, if you got a fish finder on the kayak look for drop offs this is were the big pollock hang out.

Weather is looking good, Bit strange really because its a east wind so it should be choppy, Going to try ansteys cove tomorrow at the deep spots for Pollock.
Hope you take your camera spearheads would be good to see some pictures of the local catch. I left the gear at home yesterday and grabbed the good old fishing poles. Out of my group we had a catch of ,,,, wait for it ,,,,, 3 mackeral, not bad for 2 hours fishing and Brixham breakwater was a nice pleasant experiance.
Your wish is my command, sure i will take the camera and snap a few pics.

I did not dive ansteys today instead i dived oddicombe.
The viz was OK 3,4 meters ,not as good as i was expecting.
Went out to some deeper water (around 11 meters) after not seeing much close in, dived down to the bottom and hanged around on the top of the drop-off when a shoal of Pollock passed with one huge Pollock at the back a tried to glide down to get a better shot but the shoal shot off. After that i was getting pretty cold so went around to devils arm chair and looked in some holes not much seen apart form the odd spider crab and some big wrasse.
Hope this weather holds as i might try hopes nose.

Going to try ansteys tomorrow that's if my hip is OK, had a black out while out of the water ha-ha, seems i have a very low blood pressure so if i stand up quickly i black out.

Anyone tried out Budleigh?? I am in Finland studying and wishing sooooo badly that I was in UK for some spring bass and flatties.. I thought flatfish season was on at Sandy bay?? Oh.. Well I will be in UK this summer for a month.. will bring my gun and get some real bass in from Budleigh, just wait!!

Got into day, no bass or mullet seen just load of big wrasse.
The viz has improved around 4/5 meters, the further out i got the worst the viz gets.
I think the bass and mullet might of arrived but they are all holed up ,not in the open.

Pekka - not long before I get back down there - but was waiting for a little more signs of Bass first, as I leant last year Budleigh is not an easy dive and I want to make sure it is going to be productive before I embark on the washing machine current again.
Been fishing Seaton/Branscombe - nice Cuttlefish and one Plaice last weekend
Yes budleigh will give you a swim of your life, but I would not hesitate.. it is the top place for bass when the conditions are right.. and will get you in shape in no time at all. I remember asking Jez many times if he was a strong swimmer before I was at ease to dive there with him and not to worry that he is going to be swept to France.. Some months still and I am on my way. By the way is someone interested in some weights? After this summer, I think my visits to UK will be less frequent and I have a load of lead there just getting dusty. I am getting married and my better half will be moving to Finland with me till I am qualified dentist. so... some 4 years still..

Dived oddicombe on the deeper reefs and speared the first plaice of spring.
Saw a few small mullet whizz by but still no bass.
Also half a small boat has been washed into the reef, which was fun sitting in and also makes a good ambush point.
need to get hopes nose there must be a loads of plaice showing up there
now.

What was the vis like? How deep are the deeper reefs?
Thanks Jez, I think my young American lady wants to move to East coast US.. I am lobbing for some south part.. like SC or GA or something.. we will see, I might just come for my practice year in some 4 years time to Devon.. I miss Budleigh and the swimming till you get sick, and keep going until you end up sitting on the rocks and falling asleep.. just to wake up all sore and thirsty.. heh.
Well anyhow in some 2months I will come by for some time.. and after that for a half a month or something.. not sure yet.. we need a place to stay in Exeter.. anyone? ?
Keep the reports coming, I am drooling here for some pictures of fresh bass..
