, There was no answer in this thread for more than 90 days.

Dived today, total catch 3 bass. biggest weighed 7 pounds, the other two 3 lbs, the biggest fish and one of the smaller fish were both shot in the same hole/Cave. As i was moving out of the cave backwards i turned my head around to see a massive seal looking right at me no more than a foot away fom my face, scared the crap out of merofl.
A hour and a half swim back to babbacombe were i then saw daveduvet next to babbacombe pier, i would of swam over to say hi but i was exhausted.
No pic of the other two bass i gave them away before i could get a picture.

Not quite a 7lb er like above ,(2.2 gutted) but it might as well have weighed 10 i'm so chuffed!
So Spearheads, we nearly meet again! - i think you may have met my dog today! She thought you were me!- Thanks for all your help over the months, i feel that I owe you one for this you know! I will toast you tonight when I eat my FIRST EVER SEA BASS!!!!!!

Managed a decent bass (3-4lber) yesterday in Hopes Cove. Swam for hours to find it though, was totally knackered. Not as fishy as Thursday but still a few mackeral, bass, doggies about. Not much mullet about at the moment, only saw one which was probably in the 10lb area.
Dived today only the one bass 5lb. got a nice sting across my lips from a jelly fish,

hey nice bass spearheads what the visability like down there at the moment and for the next week, the weather here in brighton is rubbish. might be visiting in the next few weeks so just wondering.

Does anyone have an opinion about Berry Head in relation to spearfishing? Is it worth a go or is the current too strong? Also Sharkham always looks abit fishy but it's a long drive if it's rubbish!
Plenty of sizeable mullet in Budleigh a the minute with the odd small eye showing.

If you do spear around that area watch out for the fisherman and divers as its a hot spot for them . Another thing to watch out for is lost tackle , ive had it tangled around my fins a couple times and it put the sh!ts right up me. Other than that, it is a nice spot with loads of parking and Ive never had any of the local divers giving me any hassle about spearing.

I'd probably never bother with Berry Head as it seems too busy with boats, fishermen etc. My Dive South Devon book explains that a lot of the fishing boats from Brixham knackered equipment ends up here somehow, including nets I might guess. Wouldn't go near it frankly.

Is any body able to help with the following question?
I took the train from Paignton to Exeter a couple of weeks ago and as we passed from Teignmouth to Dawlish Warren, I could see a lot of flags out to sea with markers. I am guessing that these were nets, as they appeared too uniform for pots. Can anyone confirm?Also, if that is the case, I guess that spearing around this area could be risky.
On the previous point about Berry Head, I too have read about the area being a dumping ground for the trash that gets trawled up further out to sea.

I have also seen those nets. There are some along the coast towards teignmouth , but not close to shore and they have red flags on the top of them.
As i've never dived Berry head it self I cant comment on whats at the bottom but like Jez said there are better areas

HI TRIBS i live in exeter if you would like some deeper dives plymouth break water is a better spot you can get 16mtrs in places at the wright tides i will give you a pm next time i am going that way if you like DAVE O (exe spearfishing club)
