:) Pete De Savary (PDS for short) did up the Manor House Hotel on Dartmoor when I worked for the National Park Auythority and renamed it Bovey Castle! To be fair, it injected a lot of dosh into the local community, created jobs and such. Not quite sure how he managed to get planning for the holiday lodges in the grounds though:confused:

It's an important building built by the WHSmith dynasty (I think) back in the day but it was never finished and was missing a whole wing. He paid for the missing wing and them some, looks pretty spanking really. Just check out the prices on the web page.

Having sung his praises I hated his Lands End monstrosity. What a way to ruin that which is already so beautiful and wild. Should be torn down imho.

I went to the Cap de Raz (I think its called) in Brittany last year, similar to Lands End in many ways but they had a far better set up which didn't ruin it.

The pub at Babbacombe certainly doesn't live up to the location though so I can only hope he will do it justice (or prevent us from getting to the beach!). We shall see.

Tribs. Happy to go dive with you. Budleigh is one of the finest spots around on its day, must go down there again when this wind has stopped and I've done few laps of the pool in preparation (for the strong current).:)

To Jez and Dave O
Thank you for your kind offers to take me diving, sounds great. My new suit should arrive from spearo imminently and i shall be raring to go. Please put up a post to give me some notice and I'll be there if I can.
Thanks again

Ahh, Friday afternoon.

Anyone know if the water has calmed down to allow the viz to settle yet? Is the Babbacombe webcam working yet (can't use it on my work pc, cos its crap)?

Hoping to get in that area tomorrow or Sunday:)

Babbacombe webcam still isn't working as far as I can tell. According to the wavebouys the swell seems to be decreasing. I'm hoping that it will be OK tomorrow as I have promised the kids a beach day and was hoping to get in at the same time.

Spearheads where are you?

I walked the dogs along babbacombe beach yesterday and i noticed that the webcam has been taken off the top of the cafe.

The swell was crashing up the beach.

The winds look OK and the swell, i doubt there will be much viz on Sunday.

Well, thought I'd visit Anstey's today on the off chance.

Turned up, viz was probably 3m or so and looked totally do-able so headed back up the hill to get kitted up. Got everything out of the boot and was about to change when the lightening started. oh bugger.

Kit and me back in the car and waited. Thought it would pass quickly. over an hour later, headed back and checked the water, now a beef broth/weak pea soup colour:vangry

Arse, arse, arse and arse. And I paid 3 quid for the parking. Couldn't be bothered to get the wormdrowning kit out, even for a few mackies. Headed home to sulk and laugh at all the soggy people at Glasto' on the telly.

HI JEZ i to looked at it today by boat just after the storm surface water was red in places but the bottom was 2/3mtrs Paul R and myself had nine mullet and a bass it was a good day

Well, if I had a boat I might have given it a go! Most of the spots I know in the area hold fish within 10-30 metres of the shore, which is where all the rain runoff was yesterday. I'm sure it might have been fine further out.

I saw a red RIB further out of Ansteys yesterday, was that you lot then?
