Dived Meadfoot on friday, The viz was bad and saw nothing.

Dived Meadfoot on Saturday saw a few wrasse and very nice size Dog fish and bent the hell out of the shaft on my gun

Dived Brixham and was surprised at how clear the water was in some spots 3 to 5 meters. Got a nice big crab for the pot but alas no fish. Saw a few 5lb wrasse but left them and some small pollack but was after mullet so left them.

I dived today the viz was 2/3 meters, 4 mullet.
Saw one bass over 7lbs but managed to miss it, and 2 congers seen.

Did a few dives off the lead stone but the tide was running to fast and the seagulls were attacking me!!.

PS back from the Azores. not much seen sadly as the famous "high" turned into an unseasonal low so after 36yrs of diving on and off finally did a course!! Actually ended up doing my qualifying sea dives more shallow than I can go freediving ( had to demonstrate this of course which pissed off the instructor a bit having hyped up the sea dive element.)rofl rofl

Don't know about vis but they reckon somebody canoed/kayaked across one of the bigger puddles last year. Apparently they spent 100K on improving drainage this year -- the mud only looked 2 or 3 inches deep on TV. Saw bog snorkelling on TV:confused:rofl

Weather has been pretty showery here the last few days -- thinking there might be run off vis. problems in some areas.

Fox fish
I was a bit dissapointed in the azores the famous high had gone with cloud rain and winds never below 15-20kts so no offshore trips and no big fish possible hence my bubbling course. During the race we saw turtles sperm whale and loads of dolphins but not much round the islands
On the sea dive only little pretty fish and a spiney lobster"no touch rule"
But the bars were fun and the tuna steaks to die for. Tried Mako as well which was really quite good and meaty, (no not like chicken!!)
All in all I'd like to go back again but Probably later in the summer when the loop of gulf stream really settles the weather down.
The locals did say it was unheard of to have that weather this time of year.

Went in with the gun today and came out shivering and shrivelled!

Plenty of Wrasse about well over 6lb and the mother of all of them was easily 8lb even with the magnification! Loads of spiders and more worryingly allsorts of weird jellies. I saw at least three different types and the last little fellow was the size and shape of a mushroom but had a train of over a metre!! Water from the river was making one side of the reef brown and the otherside cloudy. The run out tide was awesome and the sea was flat as a proverbial dab but no fish for tea!
Fancy a dive around the corner next towards Ladram.

Here in West Cork,I work at a restaurant a couple of days a week, and often boil up 5gall. of fish carcasses, mix with 3-4lbs of wheat bran, and take the whole smelly mess in a 5 gallon bucket in the back well of the kayak.
If I anchor on a reef, in current and chuck out a couple of handfulls after each dive, it seems to hold the pollack shoal for a while, and excite them.
I dive, drift down the bait trail, then surface, swim back upstream, and hold onto the anchor rope to recover and breathe up.Its best to ignore the pollack and drift through peacefully, until you see a good one.

4 hour dive yestarday. Saw a few bass in Hopes Cove in the deep parts under the cliffs but none big enough. A fair number mullet seen but they must have had some kind of forcefield on as I missed all 10 I shot at:head

Missed a chance of a nice brown crab while fannying around with my goodie bag, lost it and couldn't find it anywhere nearby:head

Got stung on my cheek by some loose jellyfish particles or something, ouch.

Yeah, there's more though. I forgot to mention the teenage couple going at it like rabbits on the beach when I was wanting to get out! I had to subtly swim around to the neighbouring beach to get out. They probably saw me but I just pretended I hadn't seen themrofl

Viz was 4m or so but dropped to 2-3m after the tide turned back
