also does anybody know any good weather forcast websites tht give accurate wind speeds, i usually use the bbc but they seem to get it all wrong more often that not, just wondered what you lot used,

This site is almost live in terms of wind speeds.

Went in last night, vis was terrible, 1-2 meters tops. Managed to bag 1 mullet though.

Heres a few weather sites my old man uses. He runs an angling business out of Plymouth, so he needs to be in the know when it comes wind speed and direction. I also use the sites listed belowand find them very accurate.

The top two are my personal favourites.

Yes, the BBC weather forecast is pretty awful. I use & recommend the GB windmap too -- pity they don't have a few more weather stations on the Dorset coast. I also find uk.weather.com - Local Weather useful as, unlike the BBC site, it offers 10 day forecasts and a breakdown of weather during the day (who cares if it rains after you've gone home!).

Met office is good but uk.weather.com is the best ever,would like to go somewhere spearfishing around the coast tomorrow but the weather doesnt look so nice at all,any advises where to go guys?? The winds also seems very strong. .

Im planning on going in tommorow evening around the plymouth area, the winds should be dropping all afternoon so by 7 there should be hardly a breath. Vis will be crap without a shadow of a doubt, but everywhere round here seems to get smashed up on a South Westerly. So i might aswell make the most of a shitty situation and see if i can nail a couple of kamikaze fish at close range.

Tonyiannu, if i were you mate i'd aim for the North Coast somewehere, theres bound to be a few sheltered coves that shouldn't be churned up too bad from all this south westerly we've had.

Sure you 're right but where?Never been in the north coast any advises??

If you can get round there try the ledges at cawsand or along the edge to the point.
There are usually a few bass in the gullies and it'll be sheltered from the swell
fancy meeting up some time??

Doc, i've tried Cawsands a couple of times on a South Westerly as like you say it should be sheltered and i've found it to be totally void of fish but overflowing when it comes to pleasure boaters determined to run me over.:crutch

Yeah, im definetly up for meeting up sometime, you can educate me on the ground at Cawsands and you can never have to many dive partners.

Cawsand is where I spend most of my diving time. You have to move away from the main beach and the village and walk as far as you can towards Fort Picklecombe. In front of the fort by the sea wall, there are some nice gullies and stringweed beds, and its good either high or low tide. There are some nice big bass there. The rocks keep the boaters away too. Or you can walk out to Penlee point, about a mile, but worth it. Easy to get in and out, plus it gets deep quite quickly with gullies galore! My dive buddy has joined the RAF, so I wouldn't mind a bit of company if you wanted to dive there.

had a dip at south milton tonight on the rising tide. quite murky to 3m then cleared got 2 nice bass to feed the rabble so none left now!!

The ledges are where that tanker landed a few years ago after dragging in an easterly. as trelawney says loads of stringweed and on round towards the point there are often flatties nestling at the edge of the rocks

Dived Meadfoot Beach last night,the viz was bad around 1,5 mt at the best, lots of little fishes and saw the first bass but disappered as he came and no chance to shoot for me.saw the second and tried to be faster but miss it:vangry . saw the third and this time no chance for him,nice medium size bass dived bit more in about 4 mt. water and just pollack so I got a couple as well. So tonight bass for me and pollach for my wife:chatup . Haven't seen any sharks as someone said thet they taste GREATrofl .

What part of Meadfoot did you dive. I gave it a go on saturday and it was a complete waste of time. Because of the pebbles and sand on the beach it made the water cloudy with viz of about half a meter.

I would like to give Spearo Dave a big thanks on been prompt with my order after things were sorted out. Phoned him on Wednesday and got my goods on Friday Very Happy. Got new rubbers, a boingie, mono line and crimps all fitted on Friday night. Took my gun for a test drive on Saturday and I couldnt be happier. The rubbers made a massive difference to the old stock rubbers I got with the gun and even managed to bag a pollack for the dinner plate.

dived the left side of the tiny beach,I been just around the corner and stayed all the time around there even if the current was pushing me toward the little island which if I was with a buddy I woudnt mind to visit around. Yes as I told the best vis was around 1,5 metres.

The rock ( shag rock) in line with the cafe is good diving.
The current is not too strong but pushes you east on a falling tide.
The best diving is at the front of the rock which is in about 9 meters of water on a high tide but round the back drops down to 15 ish meters.

Dived yesterday caught 4 mullet, 3 were in holes which i don't often see.
Also My D3 went crazy and died on me, showing 45meters at 5 and the temp reading minus 10 hahaha.
Its been sent off to suunto to be fixed hope it dont take too long, its strange diving with out it.

Dived Meadfoot late yesterday and the viz was real bad and got some funny looks from some fisherman. Dived near berry head and viz was just as bad as meadfoot really cloudy so Im going to give tomorrow a miss and wait for the water to clear up a bit.
