Dived today viz was poor 2 meters, total catch 2 mullet 2 bass (biggest 6pounds).
Saw some small red mullet and 4 very small sole.

Sorry i missed you at Budleigh i was already in the boat, you might have seen me I was the bloke trollling over the reef in an Orkney Longliner. Didn't see any spearo on there when I was about, any luck? The tide was pulling hard today and that sea was really short and snotty in the bay.
The Mrs caught one bass and the sounder was showing huge shoals of bait fish hovering off the back of the thrid set of rocks.
When i dived yesterday i actually watched thousands of sandeels diving into the sand and coming back out again in an instant. it was quite amazing to watch a thousand fish disappear in the blink of an eye and all because they were being hassled by a 6oz wrasse.
If you venture this way again Jez give me a hit as early as possible as i've got six weeks holiday now so can make most days with a little notice.

Saw a few boats out there but couldn't tell you what sort. It was quite choppy and the viz above the water was almost as good as below! Saw only one bass and only did two passes of the reef.
There don't seem to be as many pot buoys around at the moment, which are really useful as resting places after a hard swim back up the current. I was roasting by the time I'd reachedt the beach again!

Yep foxfish yesterday. At first it was underpowered so i put around 80 pumps in.
I find it easier to aim along the side of the barrel not the top.

That's great Matt, just make sure you seat the spear slider in the barrel & load in one stroke (pull)
When I first started using the 90 I had a few dud shots because the O rings had not sealed properly.

Dive Thurlstone this morning bright and early, was in the water at about 6:30am.
Viz was amazing. 7 meters in places and loads of pollack. took my commanche 90 out and bagged a nice pollack, Not the biggest fish but it was a fair distance away when I shot it.
This was my first outing to thurlstone and I have to say that viz wise it beats the pants out of Torbay. All in all it was a real nice dive.

The viz is pants in torquay 2 meters.
Got in at 10 o clock and got out at 5 o clock and all i had to show for my effort was a mullet, the mullet was the only fish i saw all day.
Dived from oddicombe to long quarry then half way to hopes nose.
Its dead out there.
And i lost my knife which had the loader for my mamba!.

Made the trip down to beer from south wales yesterday and wow what a difference to our waters!!! viz was a solid 6m and there were Bass everywhere once you got out to the points. They were however all about 2 lb in weight so left them well alone. I managed to get one decent fish that was at the back of the school that went about 3lb. and only got him after a long aspetto motionless on the bottom. There were some monty wrasse about but no Mullet seen and only small pollack. Will have to pop down that way again,
Do any good bass come from this venue??

Saw a shoal of monster bass that were all over 6lbs and one of the bass at the back was easily double figuers. The biggest bass then came head on at me but i waited for it to turn so i could get a better shot but it got spooked and shot of. Couldnt of been more pissed off.
Saw some more bass but all small. And i got ran over by a kayaker, are they blind , how can you not spot a massive orange boauy.

The headland sometimes has bigger bass; Seaton hole has produced 10lb'ers on rod and line but i've never seen them that big. Don't know if Napoli wreck has had any effect on the area, i'm due down there in the next couple of weeks.
Just got back from 2 weeks family camping holiday near Hope Cove. Vis was reasonable quite a lot of the time and Hope Cove yielded a mullet big enough to feed the family and several pollack as well as a couple of close encounters with friendly seals. The only decent bass I saw at Hope was while I was snorkelling with my children and didn't have my gun with me :head
Similar thing happened at Thurlestone - no bass when I had the gun, followed by seeing a huge one near the rock while swimming with my daughter :head
Finally on Saturday afternoon I had my last dive of the holiday and found this one in a patch of stringweed

Yes it was from Thurlestone, quite close to shore in the stringweed. I tried the Books first as I have seen more Bass there in the past but the whole area seemed dead and fishless.
