Hi Killien, Looks like eastlys all weekend mate so its gonna be rough, Thurlestone might be an option though

Seen your video about this one. Is that close to the one we been to? I just wanna get in the water you know.

Thurlestone is near bigbury which is about 40 mintues drive from Paignton. its only good on an easterly so will be worth checking the webcams before going. Ive never found any scallops there but I did have some nice pollack there in july . Theres a ship wreck there called the louis shied just off the rocks in the middle.

Hi there podge. Glad you enjoyed it...Here is a link to all my vid. The other one in Ireland is where I dived with lots of seals. One point, I had eight seals around me.

I also enclose a pic of my dinner which I have caught this afternoon, about two hours ago, after work. I went to dive but water was merky so ended up walking along the beach and here is what I found.

Does anyone else like welks or is it just: "'cause I French?"

Hey Killien nice pictures from Ireland.

Whelks are on my list of to try seafoods this year.Thinly sliced with a nice cream, garlic and white wine sauce with some linguine..hhhhmmmm.:p:p

They are really nice. We eat them as a whole in Brittany with some mayonnaise (home made). It's a killer...;-)

U going diving tomorrow?

Going in on sunday if the weather holds.

Where do you dive around Exeter?

Budleigh, and bay after towards sidmouth. Need to explore further east, beer, sidmouth....

Where r u to?

Nr Dorchester about 10 minutes away from ringstead beach and osmington.

I have never dived budleigh reef before but i must one day.Have dived at babbicombe a couple of times but this is the year for exploring.

Killien I went in today at the same spot we dived last week, good viz and had a bag full of scallops so if you free tomorrow morning and want to meet up im up for it. high tide is around 12 i think.

Hi Scott,

Nice one mate. I would be happy to come tomorrow and dive. I so want to try these new fins I bought on Sunday.

What time shall we meet?

When is low tide? 6 in the morning? I want to explore more all the rocks, caves and holes for crabs at the end on the right. It seemed very good there.

You have msn? mine is killienbreizh@hotmail.com

Killien/Scottwilson - how was it? Me and Scottie3030 are up for a night dive and a day dive over Easter and are looking for some spots for Plaice - seen any on your travels?

My last sea dive of the season last year was down at Budleigh - Killien I guess that is starting to warm up now - thats in your neck of the woods isn't it?

I have done a few dives around Beer/Seaton if you wanted any pointers

How is Oddicombe/Ansteys looking?

James T I last got in saturday morning. Nice viz but a bit cold. Easterly has made the brixham and paignton side a mess i checked the webcams today and the its not looking good. the only fish ive seen recently is wrasse but I havent been looking very hard as myself and killien have been concentrating on the Crab. Since then Ive got myself a stinking cold and will be out of the water for a while which SUX!!!!

The fact that it was early morning and bloody freezing did not help...lol. Even though I am from Brittany, I still felt the called...! I have just bought myself a nice mask from ebay a Beaver Stealth with reflective lens. It looks the b******s...! I can't wait to try it out.
Only saw one wrasse as well on the dive we did last weekend, no sign of flatfish. Caught the first spider crab of the season though...which was tasty...!

hello all,

Q: has anybody tried scuba diving in an open cell wetsuit? If so how well do they stand up to the cold after extended periods of time underwater?

I have a friend who has only ever dived abroad in warm water and he is worried about the cold here in the uk. I mentioned how happy i am with my open cell but he said that it may only work well on the surface.

Can anyone answer this?

Ive seen Pete crawford use his spearo suit with scuba so its not unheard off.

scuba suits are pretty robust and theres not a huge amount stretch in them where as spearo suits have a lot. I would imagine that this might cause a problem with all that gear on your back.
