Hi Dan,

I had a feeling it might be someone I knew of. Olivier also says we are mad to continue. Waters quite refreshing actually. See you soon after Olivier gets better.

Take care

It's worth braving the cold if only to do some scouting for next season. There is so much ground around there that can really only be accessed by boat.

Budleigh Spearo, have you defrosted yet?

It wasnt that cold at all, was weaing a 5mm surfing suit (fairly new though) hood, 1.5mm gloves and holey fin socks again about 1.5mm. Thought it was fine but then again I think I`m a little acclimatised from surfing year long.

Was gutted I didnt have anything, was wondering whether its better to hit the beaches in search of flatties??

James,

A standard string of hookeyes (those shrimp looking lures, usually 3 - 5 on a rig) which you can get for about £1 - £2 tipped with a mackeral will get you some whiting. Just fish as you were fishing for mackeral and you should pull some up if they are there.

... at least thats my approach! No point wasting expensive or precious baits on them!

Hey Tribs - what did you use for catching the Whiting? Never caught one myself but am interested in taking out my boat and fishing for some.

You don't need to ask - someone made a video!

Yep Tribs is right, Peasouper. I could just about see the end of his 60!
Still, it's a pretty good feeling to get in the water on the 7th December.
Tribs is suggesting next weekend. Let's see what the weather brings. But if it's ok I'm up for it.
Latest bass of the year?
North1.

Hi all

went out in one of Shinys boats today, 1st stop looked very fishy but I never saw any, Shiny saw 1 decent Wrasse. He took us to a 2nd spot and we had another go, I saw Pollack and Wrasse this time and shot 1 small Pollack, I should have left him really but I wanted a speared fish in December. I didn't see any Bass or Pollack. That may have been the last dive of the winter for me, but never say never.

Tight lines

Merry Christmas guys!!!!!

dived three hours today, cold but doable. Spent the first hour on the hunt for fish but only saw a wrasse so gave up and dived for scallops instead:)

Bagged 10 hand sized scallops and saw loads of crab buried in the sand but left them for tomorrows dive :)

Bought a new torch yesterday from venture sports called TUSA TUL-300 LED Dive Light which I have to admit is a great piece of kit, small, light and bright as hell perfect for a bit of night diving and hole hunting. Had a quick play with it last night over the sand gullys and again this morning while collecting Scallops in the bay

saw a group of divers diving off a boat close in shore on the outer reef so dived a fair way from them. the water tasted a bit muddy if that makes sense and was cloudy which was unusual

the dive boat came over to me and explained there was a scallop boat raking the bottom up and to be carefull which explains the cloudy muddy water.... found 2 scallops moved spots and bagged a further 2 before getting out.

Easterlys coming in just in time for my christmas break so might have to pull the bodyboard out and pack the dive gear away for a bit. :)
