OK Shiny I shot 2 Mandarin with 1 shot, it was half dark I jus saw duck!

Working on a left & righrt woodcock this winter.

I've only shot a black mullet, and because I had nothing to secure him to my belt with I had to put him on the boat, which is -unfortunatly- flat and he wasn't there when I got back

mullet have a nasty habit of coming back from the dead, they very rarely go quietly

Just back from a morning dive (day off) looked great from the carpark but very churned up, loads of schoolies around and mullet feeding in the stringweed.

got in Meadfoot yesterday but it was pants with a lot of boat traffic and choppy 1 1/2 meter viz.

Met a new spearo yesterday who's just started so mentioned the site as we all know DB is the place for Good advise

Hi HSF,i think i done left and right on woodcock but a long time ago,will check diary.
Had to make the most of the weather today.Got all my gear together and headed off down to the mooring.I was edging my bets today,i took plugging gear and diving gear.When i got down the boat the water in the harbour was dark brown so it didnt look good for spearing.A quick check of my gear before i loaded the boat,no socks.Shall i go without them? the waters mud i may not get in,something told me to drive home across the Plymouth town centre traffic and get them.So home i went then back the boat,eventually off i went.I had a mate with me who lives in Spain,he loves plugging for bass but would go in the water after them,it freaks him out watching me go under water lol.He's ideal as a boat man for me.We made our way out of Plymouth trying a few spots as we went plugging,the water was still brown until we were well out of the sound.My heart wasnt in plugging now i could see the viz getting better even after i landed a 3 lb bass,we tried a few more spots with no look on the rods,that was it im getting in.The viz was poor but it was fishable,it was a while before i seen anything and then it was only a schoolie,i then seen a shoal of mullet,i fired at the biggest and missed,not a good sign.2 minutes later bass number 1 was on the stringer followed by a nice 4lb fish,they just kept coming then out of the viz.when i got back to the boat my mate had caught a couple plugging.By now the wind was getting up so i called it a day and headed off back to the mooring,it was a rough wet ride back but worth it.

Nice Haul!!! May I ask the Brand,Name, Bands and lengths of the guns in the picture mate? Looking for a new gun and any detail info etc goes a long way.

My bigger gun is a Rob Allen Tuna (110). Just the usual spear though. Lovely to shoot. I have it set up with a reel too which suits my style of hunting. Got mine thru Spearo Dave.

You're right there! I spent ages getting the right measurements, but my suit does now fit me like a second skin

That was me you met at Meadfoot the other day. Thanks for the advice mate. There are a lot of very knowledgeable people on this site.

Went down to Ansteys/Redgate this avo, because Meadfoot was churned up. Vis was good and calmer sea. But like you said " no fish " ?

Followed the Cliff face towards long quarry, bit eary. But nothing worth spearing.

Will give that little beach next to Meadfoot a go tomorrow, I think.

Hi Dave. Glad to see you made it onto DB

I fitted the camera to the gun this weekend and went out hell bent on some good footage but landed up with very little and bad viz everywhere I went. I did bump into a few mullet and the odd bass but decided against taking one and just watched.

as you can see in the clip the viz was pants. hopefully out this weekend if the weather sorts its self out.

The way you've mounted you camera reminds me of unreal tournament. Do you think there's a market for spearfishing video games?

hey alix there was a homebrew game out a few years ago, whatever happed to it I dont know.

I like the view with the gun to the right, im working on a mount for my mask at the moment as it gives a much better view

It's been thought of but never done to my knowledge.
I'd buy one. A good FPS spearo game. Bit like underwater Deer Hunter.

There was a game years ago called Sub Culture. You drove a submarine that I recall could shoot spears and you shoot fish.
I think it was for windows 95. Wouldnt work now.
