Hi All,

Anyone still up? Taking my mate for the first time tomorrow. He will be wearing a 3mm shorty suit and he weighs about 20st ish, a big man.
How much weight would you guys reckon he'll need in the shallows 3/4metres tops.
Any formula weight/weight out there

Hi All,

Just back from the reef with my reasonable bass for the next BBQ! Chuffed, we had seen nothing all night except pollack and wrasse then on the way in two faces came racing through the murk left to right, picked the larger, predicted where they would be in 1 second and the Gabianno struck. Love that gun.
All was going great; fish on, my mate Rob loved his first real spearo session and Crazywind 009 had a fish just behind us until - a local bloke started feeding out a floating drift net 20 yards from shore in 4ft deep water! We watched him pulling in mullet the size of mackerel and kept them all. he then proceeded to beach his boat to sort his tiny catch then went back out to shoot his net again. Olivier gave him an ear bashing but he continued insisting it was legal.

Still, all done now.

He shoot that net a other 5 times:rcard came back to the beach with 2 big bucket, how can a net placed just before the river mouth in 4 feet of water be legal that realy make me sick the E.A should be visiting him

Nice fish shiny. I saw 20 bass the other day and only got one. Other days I sometimes see only a very few but get most of them. So much depends on the conditions and to some extent on the fish. Sometimes the fish seem slower and I seem faster while conversely the fish are sometimes so spooky they seem to have ESP and I feel old and slow. Still it is their environment and if it was too easy it wouldn't be fun. Very frustrating at times though :vangry.

It was football or a dive this afternoon. No contest,a dive it was.
Shore dived but before i got in it looked like the football was on the cards when i looked out from the carpark,the viz didnt look good at all. It wasnt upto much when i got in,2 metres max.
I suppose lately i have been spoilt with the good viz i have been finding. I covered a lot of ground where mullet are normaly numerous. Today i didnt see any. I had 4 sightings of bass and seen 5 bass in total. 2 of them came home with me,1 just under 7lbs and the other 3lbs.
The sea temp still very cold at depth.

Maybe you should play football for England if you can get a result on 2 out of 5 opportunities rofl

It was watch the football or work and as I’d sooner stand naked with a lightening rod on my head in the blackest of thunder storms than watch a game of football it was work for me.

Flounder Alley is awaiting you Podge. Some top class flounder still there. Its a no take zone until you been. Been feeding them buckets of tasty lugg worms and prawns. I can hand feed the big ones now!!
Dont leave it to long though im getting a itchy finger.

We were thinking about a quick trot down your way this Sunday after having a chat with big Scott, but it looks like me and The Pikey have just bought a 4x4 to launch and retrieve my boat so it’s out on the ogen for us this weekend.
However next Sunday is another story? I’ll give you a shout early next week when I know more.

Went west into Cornwall today in search of good viz and fish. I found both. Lots of bass about but it took a while before i started to find them. While looking i found a nice Dover Sole 2lb 15oz. He wasnt buried,if he was i probably wouldnt of noticed him. After catching him i spent a good hour looking for another but none found. I did see some small flounder.
Had a few bass,nothing big but did see alot more than yesterday.

Yeah he likes to get in on the pics but he dont like this time of year. I go hunting without him. I cant take him in the boat,he jumps ship at the first sight of land.

On my computer he looks like he's getting his revenge - is he cocking his leg up against you?!!!

Nice Dover Nick. I've been in Stavanger Norway since Thursday but the weather has not been to chipper. Its better today so I am going to have a go with a new Abu spinning rod and reel I bought yesterday. Forty quid for both, that seemed cheap for Abu. (what do you think Nick) the weather is good and sunny tomorrow so we'll be going out on my mates boat and I've brought my speargn etc thanks to Shinys travel kit so I am hoping to catch something tomorrow. It seems to be a Pollack, Cod and Wolf fish area!!! they spear a lot of wolf fish so they must be good eating I suppose. Happy hunting to all of you at home.

Hey Jules1972,

I have fiddled about with the dive hunter alot to try and get the perfect set up and i'm still trying. Strangely, I don't really ride in or out on it alot so I have it set up as a floating work platform really. The one thing I find is that the gun straps won't hold my Gabianno Seatec 90, they are too small so my long gun is bungeed through the front handle. The dive reel is useful for holding the line compactly but can slip behind the spool and jam so may move towards an Omer yellow line winder. I tie a net goodie bag to the strong rope on the front just in case a nice crab/lobster or salvage appears plus it holds a spare mask. Always a waterbottle in the holder, Lucozade do a huge water bottle. Thats about it really, hope that helps.

Hi all,

Forgot to post about last night. Went out with Dave (North1) and my mate Rob a newbie spearo. We took the boat out and headed to our usual spot. I didn't see much the it looked fishy. I saw a lone schoolie which didn't hang about then out of the blue a huge tail went over the top of my shoulder and off into the murk. I thought it was another seatrout or perhaps a salmon - 6lb+, silver, not a bass or mullet near a river?
Anywhoooo, carried on and a 50+shoal of bass came through and I bagged one, all equal size, legal but not huge. Didn't see alot, so went down towards Dave and he'd seen endless bass and had a nice fish on his stringer. To top off the evening two dolphins decided to join the party! Watched them for quite a while - made my day, beautiful.
