I have hardly been in this year so just wondered whether this has been a good/average/poor year by your standards Nick, Scott etc?

Bit of a strange season for me mate. I havent dived as much as normal. One time during the summer i went 3 weeks without a dive. When i have dived its been a bit more planned trying to make the most of my time in the water. I have had a few good fish for the times in though.
My most enjoyable times have been diving for Plaice on new ground i have found.

Ive had a patchy season mate. Plenty of bass but very few over the 3lb mark, Ive been plagued with engine problems ( mainly my own fault) which has dented the dive funds.

My last trip out on the boat I had to be towed back 6 miles to the slipway due to the outboard dying on me :head:head The trip before I gashed the prop and had to fork out £80 for a new one

The last trip out on the kayak I lost the front hatch and nearly sank the damn thing roflroflrofl.
This season has taught me to take more care of my gear as small mistakes can often be very expensive and embarrassing.....

A break in the weather this weekend?.....kind of?

Been out the water for ages and had a day off so tried Torbay today.

First spot was terrible vis with patches of poor vis where I could see the end of my spear. Found some undersized crabs and a borderline lobster which I left. Also had a dogfish swim pretty much into my face in one 0.5m vis which was a bit of a surprise rofl

Second spot had vis of 2-3m but all I saw fish wise were more dogs and a lone mullet which was out of range. Had to make do with a bag of mussels and a couple of scallops. Still good to get wet and the sea is a nice 13 degrees still which is pretty amazing for late November. Managed 4 hours before my feet and fingers began to seize

Hi All got in today vis 2mtrs plus in places got myself 4 mullet 1 bass 20 scollops and loads of vid of 2 dolfins underwater i did see another spearo it must have been you Matt j

Has anyone else had this and do you know what type of crab it is?

Thats a pea crab I believe, I found two in one mussel once. They dont do any harm, but I tend to leave them out!

Hi Matt no you do'nt need a rib you need to join a club that has the use of 4/5 boats get to see more spots in half the time

If I lived a bit nearer the sea and had more time off work I would definitely join a club. Don't want to join something and not be an active part though as there are times such as recently when I had a gap of nearly 3 months between dives

Spiderman I think I was wrong. It may have been in the VW camper van cookbook that I got for xmas last year. I think it only suggested garlic and wine.

There is nothing better than cooking stuff on the beach imo. Anything tastes good outside. I can even eats limpets outside.

As suggested it is a pea crab I believe. Never found one in mussels in this country but having been to NZ they get a lot of them in the green lip mussels. Nice to see people still getting a few fish. Also enjoyed the water temp at the weekend and managed a nice bag of scallops.

Hi all whent in last week my broadband was down so no web :waterwork the viz was milky did bump into a nice bass 6lb ++ did not whant to play with me so he left in hurry did see few after that one whent home with one 4lb mullet but no bass:waterwork did feeld a bit rusty after 6 weeks water still wram 13c
