We just get changed in the car park and walk down the hill into the sea! Sometimes get funny looks at the bar when ordering drinks on the way back, but that's par for the course..

Because of the wind and lack of viz, I've managed to finish my winter project slightly ahead of schedule. It's a restored 1978 British Seagull Silver Century. Converted from a long to short shaft, it fits nicely on the back of my Avon inflatable. I'm just waiting for some decent weather to give it it's sea trial

It's a 5hp. I'm looking to get rid of the steel fuel tank and replace it with a brass one at some point. I like the original exposed flywheel, but I think I'll keep the recoil start on it as its quite handy, but bloody ugly. It's just enough for motoring around Plymouth Sound and inshore reefs without a big fuel tank taking up deck space.

Hey if I am a beginner looking for a more experienced diving buddy in east Devon or around the Plymouth area for either spearfishing or freediving. North1 i just saw that you said you are fishing around east devon, if you were free to take someone out with you I would very much appreciate the experienced spearos company.

When the weather is a little warmer!
We don't like the wind coming from the east or south. Basically settled weather. If you are down south Devon then you may be able to find more sheltered areas to fish in different weather conditions.
Went down to the beach today and it looks fairly settled. Just a little too cold.

The Hoe is only good for getting run over by speedboats (not fun at all). There are scallops there, but they tend to be out deeper by the green buoy. It's not a place I'd eat them from, because of the Dockyard waste and the levels of Tritium in the mud.
There are much better places to go arounf Plymouth. Look on Google maps and find a place that looks fishy. Dive it, and if it produces fish, then great. If not, dive another spot. Like anywhere really, spots will have good and bad days, so move around a bit.

What are the trophies made from ,and what do they look like or is this open to whatever someone may feel like making ? and how are they presented (by post ?)
hi Mirror, the trophies have previously been made by Old Man Dave, and then by DevonDave; the one shown below is an example of DevonDaves trophy. Good Job DD!
Really, the competition is more about a bit of fun coinciding with the fact that we hunt fish - rather than being 'about' the prize. So it would be just great if someone felt they could bring their skills to the trophy making table
I think that 'anything goes' really [within reason lol].Each month (March to October inclusive) fish can be entered into the fish of the Month [fom] competition and at the end of the month a poll is posted for people to vote for their favourite entry. There's a few rules but that's about it. The trophy is then sent out by post to the winnner.
We are hoping for some sponsorship for the FOY and maybe FOM in some way, but maybe someone would like to sponsor the trophies too?

Hi again, just wanted to know what size the trophies were ,who pays postage and are the metal plaques engraved with recipients name and details of fish ,date etc I may be willing to make something similar but just want to know a few details before committing myself .
