Goodluck Churned up water brings out the bass and gets them feeding in close. I always seem to nail more bass in bad viz

I would say that the viz at bigbury was between 2 and 3 metres not as bad as I thought it would be. Didn't stay long but saw a few small mullet

can anyone post up a link for the part which converts 22mm seatec bands on a Gabianno 90 to take standard thread bands. i cant find it anywhere and I know people have knowledge of Italian shops that I don't.

Just got home at 11pm.

Good fishing bass, mullet, shad, garfish, mackerel and decent pollack all seen.
Bass and mullet on the stringers.

Well done, where were you and how was the viz?

Went locally. Viz poor on top 2m on the bottom. Gloom was bringing the bass in close to the grunting. Big bass turned up to the sounds of the large mullet giving me hell on my stringer. Needed three hands to get him!!!

I'm sorry to say that I wasn't freediving to get this one, but it was still a challenging grab. We dived the wreck of the Totnes Castle near Bigbury. We were 44m down and the viz was poor, 3m(ish) with little light. This one was under a section of hull plate that I had to literally burrow under to reach.

Tong was with me when we found another one, possibly a third bigger than this one amongst the wreckage of the paddle wheel. Honestly, I have never backed down from a lobster, but that one was full on defensive. A bit of teamwork and we had him. The only reason we don't have a photo, is because it escaped from Tongs bag right next to him when we were on the 9m deco stop, and he had to watch as it shot off back down to the depths. My mask filled with water from laughing so much. I'm glad it got away. It was worth it just to see the look of dissapointment on Tongs face for the next 10 min of deco.

Nice one Chris ! Takes rock-paper-scissors deco game to a new level. I picked up two the other day down the south hams. Had one in my right hand then saw another and grabbed him with my left hand. Not thinking for a second how I was going to put my snorkel back in my pie hole. I had to get my mate to do it after much splashing and shouting.

Long old swim back in from beyond the books towing a float with a few fish on the stringer a gun clipped on my belt and a bug in each hand.

I've started eating spider crab now foxy aswell after reading the threads on here and watching Monty on tv. Bit more work but well worth it

Anthony is a good lobster magnet. He can spot a good 5-6 of them on a twinset in the right ground. Plus he's good at finding outboards/anchors/u boats etc...

Hi guys, i have a trip planned next week, spending Mon-Fri at Bolberry and will be kayaking out with a few work colleauges to see what we can shoot / find.

Viz looks as if it is going to get even worse over the weekend, then get better during the week, any one got any thoughts on viz or suggestions of where to head? I understand that the Salcombe estuary is a no take zone?

The harbour master at Salcombe is a hard arse. All diving within the estuary is banned. If you have tanks on your back you are classed as a diver, If you have fins on your feet you are classed as I diver. if you wear a mask you classed as a diver. I got fed up with the agro down there that I stopped going. To make things worst the boat traffic is mental :duh

Hope cove is around the corner, easy access, plenty of gullies with bass and lobbies a plenty in the summer AND a good pub for a pint and lunch after a days kayaking. Theres free parking by the lifeboat slipway and the little road on the hill next to the Pay parking.

South Milton, Thurlestone and Burgh island/ Bantham are all reachable from hope cove depending on your fitness and plenty of good ground to choose from.

VIZ wise I doubt it will be clear. strong SSW winds will write that side of the coast off.

Congratulations Ollie! I never found the right chance to come and eat at your restaurant in Exmouth while I was in Exeter... Now I'm moving to Falmouth and regret not making more of an effort - so next time I'm back Exeter way I will come and eat your fine food!

Hi all thank you i did try my best to impress marco not a easy task when you are cooking for the god of the kitchen make sure your watching next week as we battle for a place in final
On a serious note when out on wednesday before the storm hit got rewarded with 3 bass 2 mullet 1big spider my frist bass as went down to check the anchor i lok up to see 2 bass coming my way i turn the gun and bang i bass nice size 9lb 3oz :thankyou my frist big bass of the year move to the ledge and the viz is not great manage to shoot a onther bass 3.5lb and a mullet time to move after missing 2 bass the other spot viz worse did see 2 mullet escaping under a ledge quick look under and find 3 bass under shoot on the frist 1 bang 7lb bass by now i have got a big smile on I move to other spot to find 0 viz time to go home not a bad day

Well done Ollie, I enjoyed watching you even if it did take 15 mins to see 5 mins of action due to that 5 player freezing all the time!
I will make sure I watch the program next week.
