Dived two spots on Saturday after covering a large amount of water on the kayaks. First spot was abit of a recce mission on a small spit of land that has a few shallow gullies that can be swam through on a low tide if you time it right. Vis was quite dissapointing 3-4 metres but cleared up at 10m. Missed my first shot of the season as the new bands on my RA are shorter than last seasons and so did not compensate for the increased recoil. The area did seem very fishy with tons of pollock about but as it was a first dive of the season with a chance of catching, the decision was made to move to a known location that holds bass on a high tide so we paddled the 1.5 miles to the spot. The area is relatively sheltered in a kind of bowl with kelp islands and sand but again the vis was dissapointing. Even so, it did not dissapoint as fat pollock nudging 2.1kg post-gutting/gilling, received the steel and ended up on the barbie.
Absolutely stunning weekend! Only downside was the 2hour trip back to Cardiff with the girlfriend complaining about her sunburn!roflrofl That'll teach her for not wearing a 5mil wetsuit for 6 hours in 24 degrees...............!

i had a good day 6 x thick lipped mullet 5lb and down, saw some bigger mullet and a good shoal of bass 3lb plus
Get your gear in the car and go to north wales...there are plenty waiting to get shot by you!
I didn't go to leyn yet but am gonna try it soon. I went to Anglesey to new and old spots and they both held fish. Not many but you know, enough.

on my hols to newquay holywell bay camping next week, i'm going to have a go at these big cornwall fish

Unfortunately I have never been there. I have been in Cornwall but in other places. I don't see why there shouldn't be fish though.Good luck!

I went in yesterday for my first spear in Wales, and unfortunately the vis was 1m at best, persevered and stayed in from 6:30 till 9 ish, managed to see a few edible sized wrasse, a undersized shoal of pollack, reasonable sized dogfish, few edible crabs of edible size and a plaice which i practically swam into and he was long gone before i had a chance to spear him.
In hindsight i chose the wrong side of the bay, and went for the less sheltered side as it had more promising rocky parts. Unfortunately there was a strong current and 2ft ish swell and a swim in which would normally take 10 mins took 20-25 mins and was too tired to have a go at the other side of the bay.
Was nice to get back in for the first time since easter hols and see the fish are coming back with my own eyes rather than seeing it on here. Was supprised how poor the vis was though considering how good the weather has been recently.
Anyone else been in recently ?

mugged, i was out last week, got 2 bass, just as i got my third i felt a tug on my line so i pulled it closer and one of my bass was missing, who popped his head up sid the fat seal cheeky sod was coming back for secounds so i hoisted the remainder onto my float and went home.
