Speargun Help!!

im back
so i was spearfishing yesterday, and while going down saw a fish directly under me. i shot, missed, and saw a piece of the muzzle of my gun sinking slowly down. (Picture)
i cant really imagine how that could happen since theres is never really a strain on that part. i only had that one band on the gun. what happened? why would that part break off?

that sucks ken, sorry. go back to where you bought it, it must be a manufacturing defect and thus covered by guarantee. Have you ever bashed it there?
 
no, i keep the spear in the gun so it would be pretty impossible. i superglued it now (very professional, i know) if it comes off again i will go back tom the shop, but im not sure they will do anything. they only had that one cayman hf and do not know much about spearguns at all.
the only thing i can imagine that could have happened is that one of the shark fins on the shaft hit the metal bridge and somehow knocked the front off. pretty unlikely but what else could it be? i now have it open muzzle so the most strain on it would only be the spear sliding over it when i shoot. but still, i might want to put second band on it one day, and im not sure it would hold then.
thinking back, glueing it was probably really stupid of me right? hope theyll still give me a replacement muzzle

Your omer representative should replace your muzzle without problems, omer has great service here in U.S.

I personally think the metal bridge is the cause of your problem, the metal puts too much strain on the plastic muzzle.

and just in case, would the shot of the gun be affected by that piece missing? i continued to use it after it broke and it seemed fine...
 
with that heavy and sometimes fibrous kind of plastic the following gluing technique often works well for me:
- work out exactly how piece fits together and remove any interfering bits
- clean and degrease (eg. trichloroethane, contact cleaner aerosol, cellulose thiner, pure iso alcohol etc)
- glue with a good brand super glue and leave a few hours, make sure the surfaces mate perfectly
- sand the repair area very gently with very fine (>200 grit) sandpaper
- clean area as before
- mix regular clear (not fast set) two pack, epoxy type glue, and run a seam around the repair
- dry 2 days before straining

only takes a few mins really, instructions make it sound hard!
 
I think you need to ask omer for a new muzzle any way, your gun has one year of warranty, take advantage of your warranty while you have it ! The glue will eventually ware out. Omer has great service, I've a my new muzzle without problems.
