i just found this page, and its a test of my gun, but in italian. i would like to know what it says at the end about the different bands tried and how they compared. can anyone here tell me about it?
here it is

Ken, the only bit i understood was "don't buy this gun, especially unfit for Lebanese waters" But there again, my Italian is about as rusty as a 1968 Fiat 500.

Here it is,

I've google, I am not sure how good it is

TEST CAYMAN HF 100
I followed the draft this rifle, I thank Mark for having made Ciceri
Sharer, long before exit on the market and then subsequently the various
Tests made by the athletes OMER SUB.
When finally has' made available, Marco sends me an e-mail saying that
Wanted me to try and clear for me it was a tremendous surprise.
Shortly after I arrived with the package and how the rifle rule for some 'time the
Rifle and 'equipped all ready to go and including a shaped and
Other spare parts (nylon sleeves and seals for balancing).
The thing that surprised me more ', as I opened the parcel, and' his form of bone
Cuttlefish and guide rod integral give the rifle attractive aesthetics.
Even the handle and the head are very good with finishing top level.
The shaft, aluminium anticorodal, was produced with a new technology (HF)
Hydro Forming. This technology is to send a liquid (hot oil) High
Pressure (about 1600 BAR) inside the shaft and through a mould is realized form
To "bone of Sepia" and the full auction guide.
The shaping "Bone of Sepia" has been designed to give more to
Volume (greater stability and accuracy), best brandeggio, rigidity of the shaft
(Upper trunk to a circular carbon) and total weight (contains more '
Air).
The grip has been completely redesigned (the hand that is the most challenging '
High compared the stem) and was created a new system release more sensitive and
A mechanical innovation.
This new machine has a greater resistance to the efforts of the traction
Elastic and at the same time maintains a sensitivity and softness trigger excellent.
All this serves to increase the accuracy in shooting and facilitate brandeggio.
The release mechanism was also treated with a hardening of
Different metal, increasing the thickness (in the lowest points of friction) to
Maintain over time a soft release.
E 'can also change the grip mounting that ergonomic and replace
Also supported with a sternal longer.
The Cayman mounting an open tested very small (high visibility) with a double hole
To host a second elastic. Above the head there 'inserted a steel bridge
(Removable) to pass the auction, handy for those who do not want to stop the auction with the classic
Tour of rope.
The Cayman is equipped with the now tested reel full of 50 Match
Sagolino ready to be mounted on to through the black nylon which is located in
Package.
The auction is the model America 6.5 mm long by 140 cm. Equipped with 3 stainless pinnette
Welded in place of classical notches to make it more robust.
Above the wing is mounted a cone technopolymer which increases penetration and
The idrodinamicità.
Proof sea and impressions
Before writing this test, it is about 6 months, I did several tests
Changing the configuration elastic el'ogiva, leaving unchanged the auction.
In this way I actually tried behaves like this rifle (only with
Prolonged use can make an objective judgement), and what is, in my
Humble opinion, the optimal configuration.
-- Try a Circular from 18 Omer
The first time I brought this rifle at sea I tried with a single elastic
OMER circular by 18 mm. On the first hole using the swivelling with ogival
Silicone protections. While the rifle armavo I noticed that the first of
On the left there is a convenient shape that allows you to place the nylon for not
Disrupt loading. Indeed, the nylon / codline must pass mandatory
On the auction because of the auction guide text.
Load the elastic and not know that 'tiratissimo and with the help of 3 is a game pinnette
Child ogival bring in maximum power.
The first impact is how well the gun 'assettato slightly positive (in
Pack there are leads to adjust) peak known and which has a brandeggio to say
Just perfect!
Unfortunately in the first caught not have much to shoot and do a test shot
The aim being salpona. Throw history and did not affect fish in the middle of the body
Immobilizzandolo.
Returning home, I immediately changed the structure by increasing the weight by removing the tip
Tested. I have added two discs from 13 gr. And then I carefully repositioned all
As before.
For the second caught I also tried moving the elastic from 18 in the hole more '
To have a far greater extent.
In fact, I noticed immediately loading rifle that the effort is loading
Increased water and that the rifle is finally perfect for my tastes.
The improved brandeggio is still in the water gun is a jewel, with very little
Effort can move quietly.
Throw in this case is increased and have done a great expenditure and a sarago
Corvina. What can we say, assettato so that the rifle and 'precise and without charge
Inhuman efforts.
-- Try two Circulars from 18 Omer
Ciceri Marco had told me to try it with two elastic and I have done
Immediately. The rest and 'remained the same, I just added a second elastic
Equal length with un'ogiva swivelling.
Provided water guns, I noticed that the elastic position so perfect
Without overloading and that the stem is not affected at all of 'increasing load, not
Absolutely board.
The thing that struck me most of the handling of a gun that despite the second
Not deteriorating because elastic rubber bands are incorporating in the trunk and most people
Important is that it does not have any type of vibration (elastic and auction).
The arrangement does not change, as has been the custom previously had.
Something has changed, however…… the shot is really powerful, too, and the rifle has
Need the second for not having passed a strong strattone.
Clearly increasing power increases the recoil, but I can assure you that
Manageable and does not create problems of accuracy.
I did some shooting test on the target drive, and I have to say that the power is not lacking
Absolutely, in my opinion is too much especially if the fish all'agguato
White fish. With this configuration I have a beautiful sarago more with a shot
Around 4 mt. From the tip and I insagolato fish safely.
-- Try two Circulars from 16 black / amber al mt.
The last test I did was with a double elastic by 16mm. Extruded cut
Factor 3.5, ogive totemizzate. On an elastic mounting the dyneema and
Un'ogiva on Smooby articulated.
Clearly it is still easier to load with two elastic by 16mm. And I must say that
The power and recoil 'certainly better.
I tried for some caught in Sardinia, when I could not load another rifle
Along with problems at hand, and I must say that with a little effort the Cayman was ready for
Fish.
Even in this case the structure is not changed, and I noticed that the auction and shooting '
Very fast and powerful and the most sarago 'smaliziato and suspicious hardly
Saves.
What can we say, in my opinion the best structure to fish and is all'agguato
Of a single elastic by 18/20 mm. (Enables us some shooting in lair) if
We want to have something more potent and specific (pure aspect) then a double
Elastic by 16 mm. Is to be tested.

thanks:)
so what i undestood about the band setups was that the best (?) was a single 18 or 20, and double 16s were good for pure aspetto technique. the double 18 were good too? and caused no real problems. he didnt change anything just added the 2nd 18mm band?

i have the feeling my gun is not as good as it could be. i tried open muzzle, and it is better than closed, but every time i shot, the line would get caught in my speargun band and wishbone. very frustrating. why could that be?

if in the test it says that he didnt change anything, and just added another 18mm band, then i could double wrap, and do the same. then it would be the same as now, except with the option to blow fish away from a distance when needed, using the second band occasionally. good idea? and how long should the band be for my gun, i couldnt find any info on the internet. maybe my single band is just too long...
ive noticed that the larger fish here are very very scared, and take off way before you can even think of shooting.

Kenny

My HF is very good balistic, I don't see any reason to change the band, the 18 mm band has plenty of punch the shoot is very acurate, the only thing I would change is the shaft I like 7mm shafts. I think the gun has perfect balistic from the factory no changes are need it.

The complains I have are just a couple.

1) The metal bridge cracked my muzzle
2) Omer should have used a line holder like the one on MA (master america) , to resolve the problem below.

The current way to rig the gun, is very unforgiven, any distraction building the wraps can cause the shooting line to tangle, that is easy to happen, one of the number 1 rules for spear fishing gear is to keep it simple.

I am going to check with omer if there is any warranty on the muzzle, but I am planning to instal a wood gun style line holder.

:headi was pretty sure i wrapped the line correctly, but not once did the line not tangle with the wishbone and band after being shot, except when i double wrapped.

can someone explain 'idiot-proofely', step by step, and in details how to wrap the line for open muzzle?

and about adding the 2nd 18mm band: since everything else stays the same, the gun would still be the same, except with the OPTION of maybe using the second band every now and then. i just like the idea of being able to load a second band when i see a more 'distant' fish. idk, maybe its stupid. what do you think?

offen2.JPGThe only way i could see it getting hung up on the band/wishbone is if you didnt feed it through the rubber band before locking it in place and winding the mono through all the hooks. But the longer line of mono does mean that you will have more line to get tangled up.

Feed the spear and line through the loop of the band and into the back of the gun (Very important if you dont want to get hung up when shooting)

The line then comes up the left side of the spear to the muzzle down around the holder (1).

The line then comes over the top of the spear..

The line then goes down the right side and around the line holder at the right side of the muzzle of the gun.(3)

The line then goes back along the barrel (rt) side toward the handle and loops around the trigger release hook.

The line then goes back up the barrel (RT) toward the muzzle.

Then the line goes over the end of the gun through the slot in the plastic muzzle. (2)

Then the line runs back down the left side of the gun and under the barrel to the right side trigger release. Wa la you are done. Tighten your drag down and shoot away.

You are gonna end up with a mess every once and a while. See pic 2. If you need me to wind it up step by step for you with pics please let me know.

thanks. sounds like i did everything right, and it did work, it only tangled up when i had LESS line, one wrap on it.
what do you think of the double wrap+double 18mm band thing??

Adding a 2nd band will make you gun longer to load, harder to swing, more affected by recoil and less accurate. In positive, you will gain a little more range and penetration, but is it really worth?
Since you're so young and relatively new to the sport, please let me talk to you like a father to son: enjoy diving, shoot fish and don't mind so much about gun modifications. Your Cayman will kill fish just like it is.

The spaghetti man might be an old fart but he is right. Stick with the single band. If you are getting tangling problems an extra band will only make it worse. If I can quote a very dear friend

QUOTE]

I see you still have the little metal ring under the muzzle, I did not have any tangling problems when I was using the little metal ring, the place where my shoots where tangling where not on the wish bone but since I've lost the little metal ring (or a big fish took it), I had to use the little plastic hook (#4), for the line wrap, or the front of the gun (#2), things got really busy at the front of the gun, the problem was on the muzzle, I had to spend a long time rigging it. If the wrong line got on the top, the shoot will tangle.
But I think the fix is very easy, I am going to install a master America kind of line holder.

your right, i probably need 'how to aim a speargun' more than anything else
you wouldnt believe the shots i manage to miss:head
actually, im going to do a search on that right now..................

now there's a good question Ken! How to hit fish!!! There seem to be two answers according to who you ask:
- aim
- don't aim

I seem to be the second, I feel good shots come naturally, extend arm, keep eye on target, bang...

or to put it another way: when have aimed deliberate shots I have missed more times than when I have just instinct shot.

I agree with all those wise words above: keep gun stupidly simple and you'll have more fun.

There is also the creep up so close that you have your spear 25mm from the fish method!
I (we Guernsey chaps) use this method for bass & mullet but interestingly you still need power, enough power to send your spear through one side of the fish & out the other.
If you can completely penetrate the fish it cant use the spear as resistance to rip a big hole or gash in its own flesh & escape. Once on you running line the fish cant escape.

foxy, you'll love this (or think i'm stupid, probably) but when I get that close to a fish I shoo it away to give it a chance.... I'm also pretty sure most guns don't develop full power until the spear is clear from the muzzle, but I could have just made that up?

ask me though, if it were some record beastie, would I do the same.. probably not.. ;)

Well to start with you dont live where I do & if you did I doubt if you would shoo a bass away mate. In fact it does take either luck or experience to stalk a bass to gun point!
I wish I lived wear you do well actually i would if there weren't GWs swimming around.

fair point foxy! i have never even seen a bass around here, although they do have them, called "corvina" they feed in the breakers on sand shrimp. I will try to find them this summer and see how I do....
hunting between the rocks is probably easier, and I do come in "prodding distance" of fish almost every time I'm out, rarely the big ones though as they are always skitish.
funny thing with the smaller ones, once you come so close and don't shoot them, they will even start following me!
