hello ,
pain in ankles is inevitable part of the use of all types monofins ! Especially if to swimm long distance and with accelerations ! I am the World and Europe (2000-2006) champion on a marathon in finswimming and know about what talk ! Ankles, knees and small of back are pain in these places it paying for pleasure of swimming in the monofins
To Foundueset :
you sued for possibility the use of socks of 5мм for swimming in very cold water !
We can do a great deal, more description is simply needed at the use fins :t

Hi Alex - Actually I said '1.5mm' - But never mind! I have tried the fin with 5mm and it is perfect!! Really - this is much better because I can use it in the best diving time here - October/November. It is amazing to me that you were able to size the footpockets with such precision. They feel comfortable with 3 mm - but perfect with 5mm.

Strange thing - I never have pain in ankles or knees - low back sometimes but because I am used to swimming with my heavy Tropol - with your fin this is almost nothing.

Okay - Pool Test:

Had my own lane almost the whole time With 5 mil socks force transmission is better. I am still adjusting but this fin is very nice an easy to swim with.

Being used to hard blades - i have to remember to take my time and let the blade do the work. As mentioned - the blade feels very 'alive' and responsive. Relaxing to swim with slowly - but also pretty good for sprints. Extremely comfortable and good fit with 5 mil socks. I swam about 1500 yards with no discomfort - (30x50yd u/w laps). I experimented with all kinds of kicks - and would be interested in Alex's opinion of what is the best for this fin. It is definitely a joy to swim with.

I let a friend of mine use it and observed the blade movement - no V bend - very smooth. He is not as good with a monofin as I am, but is coming along well and was going quite fast with this fin.

The thing that really stands out with this fin is how well tuned it is to my needs. Quite impressive.

As mentioned before - quality is superb - materials, assembly and finish all excellent.

Almost forgot! The little blade rails are a nice touch for me - I dive and photograph around rocky breakwalls and am forever bashing the edges of my fins against them - the little rails protect the edges from getting gaffed up.

Heres some fin porn from my open water dive on the 2nd.

Fundamentally fins for finswimming & freedivind for us are different, though alike outwardly ! I tried to use the different types of technique for our hypers and will say that swimming in them is possible with any technique & even with it Simply very bad ! to the cath technician of swimming so that it is possible to swimm quickly, easily and long not to get tired ! Here not to compress as in a trainer hall (gym), and try to do smooth motions as it is done by fishes ! And not to think during swimming about even knees or oth. or hands ! all movies must to bring pleasure - not pain ! Anyway it will be a far comfort you and it is easy to swimm then in other kinds of monofins! Here in and there is a difference of hypers from all other kinds and he was thought of for this purpose !
and many of those who use our Starfins made sure herein

I'll agree - this fin flows - I like to swim with minimal knee-bending but relaxed (when not doing sprints in the pool). The fin seems fine with both - but the blade has a very smooth release which is lovely when you do slow strokes

Alex - I hope you got my email.

3 days on Lake, gotta love 4th of July. BTW, Lake Michigan is 60 deg. F! something's not right here

I am in so much pain now I walk funny. It hurts in a good way, it's muscle pain just like after any good workout and I like it.

So, short summary of Starfin after covering long, long distance. This fin is what I was looking for and what was it? Possibly ONE universal fin I could use for CWT, DYN and pleasure. Yes, I know it's hard but Starfin came closest of all other fins.

I don't want to travel with 3 or even 2 fins, I want ONE in my luggage. With this single fin I'll be able to do CWT (after all I was fine fin Model1), in DYN I should fly like never before (I already did without wearing Orca, pool was too hot)
Now pleasure, that's pleasure - finally I don't have to focus my mind on thought "remove the fin, remove the fin". Long distance, long time without suffering means long time to enjoy, play around, train, chase the fish, race etc

Very, very happy.
Now I'll be off and not using it until 16th so there won't be any video before that time. In Wisconsin I'll try to show how it works underwater but it depends on visibility at Freedive Palooza. Right now it's not so good

This is what i'm mean from the beginning of my appearance on DB. It is possible to listen to opinion of such people, cause they tried, use and 3-4 has fins from different producers ! And not necessarily to pay 800$ or more to get the fin of the dream ! We simply do in our fins everything individual, rather than just size footpocket ! And try to hear customer before !!!
I`m glad that our Starfins pleased you !

After talking with Alex, who always responded quickly to my emails, went there not long before my Finn came to the country. It was only because of the Danish customs, it took extra long time before I got my fin. When it arrived, I was very excited about the wrapping. Since it had lain so long at customs, I just tried fin for 100m when my local pool closed down for the summer. Yes 100m is better then a nothing, and because my 10 months-old son was sitting on the edge and cried, I reached no more.
I felt that could not feel the power transfer and felt a little like having a wet towel on your feet, compared to my wwmd1. But that should change.
A week after I went to Sharm El Sheikh, and took my new fin with. I felt that I quickly grew together with the Finn. Never got sore feet, though I had fin of 3-4 hours a day for 14 days.
Finn is super easy to swim in the surface, and the few times I tried to swim fast, I felt a good pace.
I am pleased however to try the fin in a pool, so I can compare the speed, compared to my old Finn.
The Finn took me 10m deeper one last time I was in Sharm El Sheikh, and took me down at 40m.
I will come back when I tried it in the pool when winter season starts in my pool.
Meanwhile, enjoy with my video from the trip.

Wow! it sure is pretty there! I have quite a few hours in on my Starfins now - both in the pool and open water. I've taken lots of pictures but none of the fin or of me, because my dive buddy has been unavailable.

The fin is very comfortable. It is softer than the fin I have been using, but power is very good even though it feels easier. When I get some photos of the fin in action I'll put them up - meanwhile here are a few pictures taken while wearing it

I specially did not set on your hypers hard blades ! you must enjoy- not training !

I'v received mine yesterday, 7 days after payment! It will be tested from thursday in Croatia. I will let you know about the result.

Thanks again Alex,
Balázs

Just received my new Starfin this morning! I am dying to try it!!!

I must say that Alex was great to deal with, very responsive and accommodating. I sent the money on Aug. 5th through a US bank and it was received on Aug. 6th by Alex. The fin was shipped on Aug. 10th and I received it this morning, just 10 days after

The fin was very well packaged and arrived in perfect condition. I also purchased a bag for the fin and if you don;t have one already, I would recommend it as well.

I put the fin on and the foot pockets seem to fit well, at least outside of the water. I will test it this WE and send my first impressions soon!

Thanks Alex!
