Surface Protocol: changes needed?

It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
The no touching role came in partly as a result of coaches holding up athletes who had LMC or black out The no touching role came in partly as a result of coaches holding up athletes who had LMC or black out ...

Still, as earlier proposed, a yellow card with a 5 or 10 pt deduction would be more fair solution than the red card and would still prevent coaches from wanting to help/touch their athlete. The rule should be there (atleast when surfacing in STA) to ensure that the coach or someone else don´t interfere one way or another.

Also in case of a suspected PBMM the athlete would be given a 5 or 10 pt sanction. This would, ofcourse, cause disputes in some cases (as is the case today also) but would be much fairer to the athlete and give the judge an alternative. It would also invalid NR or WR dives (as it should if there´s a question about validity).

a knee can prevent a possible DQ due to dipping airways in static....and even only touching (light tap on shoulder, face or somewhere else) 'could' wake up an athlete coming up but not breathing because he has gone to far.....for example I ones lifted a BO'ed diver with 1 finger 'back to life'!!! Reflexes while being BO can be very strange and in static many come by simply by just touching them....the 'no-touch' rule has its grounds. In constant weight it was also very easy to support your diver with a knee while holding the rope.

In the case of Alexey I do not think he had any advantage from being touched after seeing the footage in media room (as he came up clean to begin with).

Yes, ofcourse everything is possible in the end.

But OK, keep the DQ rule for the touching while surfacing. Alter the DQ touching rule for the DYN start to a yellow card and the PBMM rule also to a yellowcard if the protocol and other rules stay intact during surfacing.
